TLDR
Isotope analyses of Os, Sr, Nd, and Pb elements were caried out on twelve peridotite xenoliths from the Jagersfontein, Letseng-la-terae, Thaba Patsoa, Mothae, and Premier kimberlites of southern Africa, to investigate the timing and the nature of melt extraction from the continental lithosphere and its relation to the continent formation and stabilization.

Mantle heterogeneity during the formation of the North Atlantic Igneous Province: Constraints from trace element and Sr‐Nd‐Os‐O isotope systematics of Baffin Island picrites

TL;DR: Sr-Nd-Os-O isotope and major and trace element data from ~62 Ma picrites from Baffin Island constrain the composition of mantle sources sampled at the inception of North Atlantic Igneous Province (NAIP) magmatism as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Os mobilization during melt percolation: The evolution of Os isotope heterogeneities in the mantle sequence of the troodos ophiolite, Cyprus

TL;DR: In this article, the authors focused on the origin of the Os isotope heterogeneities and the behaviour of Os and Re during melt percolation and partial melting processes in the mantle sequence of the Troodos Ophiolite Complex.
Journal ArticleDOI

Re–Os dating of two Cu–Ni sulfide deposits in northern Xinjiang, NW China and its geological significance

TL;DR: In this article, the authors performed a geochronological study of the mafic-ultramafic intrusions and the associated Cu-Ni sulfide deposits in northern Xinjiang.
Journal ArticleDOI

Insights into early Earth from the Pt–Re–Os isotope and highly siderophile element abundance systematics of Barberton komatiites

TL;DR: In this article, the authors reported the first high-siderophile element (HSE: Os, Ir, Ru, Pt, Pd, and Re) isotopic data for well-preserved komatiites from the Komati and Weltevreden Formations of the Barberton Greenstone Belt in South Africa.
Journal ArticleDOI

Age, Composition and Thermal Characteristics of South African Off-Craton Mantle Lithosphere: Evidence for a Multi-Stage History

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented a large-scale characterization of mantle xenoliths from 13 kimberlites that erupted through the Proterozoic mobile belts surrounding the Archean Kaapvaalcraton of South Africa.

On the regional variation of heat flow, geotherms, and lithospheric thickness☆

TL;DR: In this article, Pollack et al. constructed a global map of lithospheric thickness based on the regional variation of surface heat flow, geotherms, and lithosphere thickness, and identified the lid as synonymous with the lithosphere.

The composition and evolution of the continental crust: rare earth element evidence from sedimentary rocks

TL;DR: In this article, a revised andesite model is used to obtain total crustal composition, assuming that the upper crust, one-third of the total, is derived from intracrustal partial melting.
