Journal ArticleDOI
Recycling deep cratonic lithosphere and generation of intraplate magmatism in the North China Craton
Shan Gao,Shan Gao,Roberta L. Rudnick,Wen-Liang Xu,Honglin Yuan,Yongsheng Liu,Richard J. Walker,Igor S. Puchtel,Xiaomin Liu,Hua Huang,Xiao-Rui Wang,Jie Yang +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the basaltic and picritic lavas were derived from the foundered eclogitic lower continental crust. But the results were limited to the case of basaltics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Temporal Evolution of the Lithospheric Mantle beneath the Eastern North China Craton
Zhu-Yin Chu,Fu-Yuan Wu,Richard J. Walker,Roberta L. Rudnick,Lynnette Pitcher,Igor S. Puchtel,Yue-Heng Yang,Simon A. Wilde +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, mantle xenoliths from the Paleozoic Mengyin kimberlites, along with xenolith samples from the Cenozoic Penglai and Shanwang basalts in Shandong Province, are investigated via traditional petrographic and elemental, Sr^Nd^Hf^Os isotopic and platinum-group element (PGE) analyses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Petrology and geochemistry of crustally contaminated komatiitic basalts from the Vetreny Belt, southeastern Baltic Shield: Evidence for an early Proterozoic mantle plume beneath rifted Archean continental lithosphere
Igor S. Puchtel,Karsten M. Haase,A. W. Hofmann,Catherine Chauvel,V. S. Kulikov,Carl-Dieter Garbe-Schönberg,Alexander A. Nemchin +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented new isotope and trace element data for komatiitic basalts and a related peridotite Vinela Dike from the Vetreny Belt in the southeastern Baltic Shield.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oceanic plateau model for continental crustal growth in the Archaean: A case study from the Kostomuksha greenstone belt, NW Baltic Shield
Igor S. Puchtel,A. W. Hofmann,Klaus Mezger,Klaus Peter Jochum,A. A. Shchipansky,A. V. Samsonov +5 more
TL;DR: The Kostomuksha greenstone belt in the NW Baltic Shield consists of two lithotectonic terranes, one mafic igneous and the other sedimentary, separated by a major shear zone as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Radar-Enabled Recovery of the Sutter’s Mill Meteorite, a Carbonaceous Chondrite Regolith Breccia

Roeske,Zelimir Gabelica,Michael Lerche,Michel Nuevo,Michel Nuevo,Beverly Girten,Simon P. Worden +75 more
TL;DR: A comprehensive analysis of some of these fragments shows that the Sutter's Mill meteorite represents a new type of carbonaceous chondrite, a rare and primitive class of meteorites that contain clues to the origin and evolution of primitive materials in the solar system.
