Journal ArticleDOI
Rapid Detection and Differentiation of Human Pathogenic Orthopox Viruses by a Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer Real-Time PCR Assay
TL;DR: The real-time PCR assay can detect and differentiate human pathogenic orthopox viruses and qualifies the assay for high sample throughput, as is likely to be needed in situations of suspected acts of biological terrorism, e.g., use of VAR.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biological Activity of Volatile Di-n-Propyl Disulfide from Seeds of Neem, Azadirachta indica (Meliaceae), to Two Species of Stored Grain Pests, Sitophilus oryzae (L.) and Tribolium castaneum (Herbst)
TL;DR: Present studies clearly demonstrate that di-n-propyl disulfide could be a potent toxicant, fumigant, and feeding deterrent for stored grain pests, if a suitable formulation and application procedure are developed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Leaves of Lantana camara Linn. (Verbenaceae) as a potential insecticide for the management of three species of stored grain insect pests
TL;DR: Gaschromatography-Mass Spectrometer studies for extracts indicated the presence of potent fumigant molecules in L. camara, an erect shrub, which grows widely in the tropics, exhibits insecticidal activity against several insects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Monitoring of Resistance to New Chemistry Insecticides in Spodoptera litura (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) in Pakistan
Mushtaq Ahmad,Rashid Mehmood +1 more
TL;DR: The present studies investigated the level of resistance to new chemistry insecticides, having novel modes of action, in the Pakistani field populations of S. litura during 1997-2010 by using a leaf-dip bioassay, and found a low to moderate resistance was recorded.
Journal ArticleDOI
High resistance of field populations of the cotton aphid Aphis gossypii Glover (Homoptera: Aphididae) to pyrethroid insecticides in Pakistan.
TL;DR: Samples of the cotton aphid, Aphis gossypii Glover, populations collected from the vicinity of Multan in central Pakistan from 1997 to 2000 were evaluated for pyrethroid resistance in comparison with a susceptible laboratory colony using a leaf-dip bioassay.
