Journal ArticleDOI

Perceptual integration of acoustic cues for stop, fricative, and affricate manner.

TL;DR: It is found that given sufficient silence, listeners report GRAY CHIP when the noise is short but GREAT SHIP when it is long, and in a second experiment, varying noise and silence durations in GRAY SHIP, this effect is found to be true.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microbubble contrast agent with focused ultrasound to create brain lesions at low power levels: MR imaging and histologic study in rabbits.

TL;DR: MR imaging-based temperature measurements appeared to correlate with focused ultrasound-induced lesions in the brain when microbubbles were present, even though the temperature appeared to be below the threshold for thermal damage.
Journal ArticleDOI

Involvement of chitinases of Bacillus thuringiensis during pathogenesis in insects

TL;DR: Results showed that much higher concentrations of bacteria were required to achieve even low mortalities, and addition of chitinase A gave no increase in death rate, demonstrating a role for bacterial chit inases in the attack on the insects.
Journal ArticleDOI

Study design and analytic methods for data collected from clusters of animals

TL;DR: It is argued that the relative utility of study design vs. statistical methods in accounting for cluster effects depends primarily on the objectives of the study and the amount of prior information available.
Journal ArticleDOI

Role of catechol siderophore synthesis in Vibrio vulnificus virulence.

TL;DR: The deduced amino acid sequence of venB is 41% identical to the enzyme isochorismatase of Escherichia coli (EntB), an enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of the catechol siderophore enterobactin.
