Detection of Permethrin Resistance and Fipronil Tolerance in Rhipicephalus sanguineus (Acari: Ixodidae) in the United States

TL;DR: This is the first documentation of R. sanguineus permethrin resistance and fipronil tolerance in the United States and potential causes of resistance development and recommendations on future brown dog tick control management plans are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Scale invariant features of differential spatial displacement discrimination

TL;DR: Thresholds for both tasks were obtained as a function of both the resolution and the separation of the blobs, and are interpreted as further evidence for a scale-invariant mechanism for differential spatial displacement computation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Response to Comments on "Isobolographic Analysis for Combinations of a Full and Partial Agonist: Curved Isoboles"

TL;DR: It is shown that a combination of drugs with a variable potency ratio, exemplified by a full and a partial agonist, lead to curvilinear isoboles of additivity that may erroneously be attributed to either synergism or subadditivity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cytotoxic activity of marine macro-algae on Artemia salina (brine shrimp).

TL;DR: A total of 22 ethanol extracts of seaweed species collected from the Karachi coast were investigated for brine shrimp cytotoxicity and only six namely Stoechospermum marginatum, Sargassum swartzii, S. binderi, Spatoglossum asperum, Stokeyia indica and Caulerpa racemosa showed significant activity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Acute toxicity of two CdSe/ZnSe quantum dots with different surface coating in Daphnia magna under various light conditions.

TL;DR: The results of the present study showed that D. magna was more susceptible to GA/TOPOQD exposure compared to MPAQD, and the surface coating of QD appeared to determine the stability of QDs and hence the toxicity, potentially by size change or the release of toxic components from QDs.
