Journal ArticleDOI

Combined effects of algal (Chlorella vulgaris) density and ammonia concentration on the population dynamics of Ceriodaphnia dubia and Moina macrocopa (Cladocera).

TL;DR: It was found that in controls of M. macrocopa an increase in the availability of Chlorella from 0.5 to 1.5 x 10(6) cells mL(-1) of algal food led to a corresponding decrease in peak population densities of the tested cladocerans.
Journal ArticleDOI

Spatial release from masking of aerial tones in pinnipeds.

TL;DR: Performance was consistent with some measurements collected on terrestrial animals but differences between subjects at the highest frequency likely reflect variations in pinna anatomy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Deficits of congenital amusia beyond pitch: Evidence from impaired categorical perception of vowels in Cantonese-speaking congenital amusics.

TL;DR: Comparison of performance of Cantonese-speaking amusics and matched controls on the categorical perception of sound continua in four stimulus contexts suggests that the deficit of amusia is probably not pitch specific, but affects frequency/spectral processing more broadly.
Journal ArticleDOI

Functional analysis of a 603 nucleotide open reading frame upstream of the polyhedrin gene of Autographa californica nuclear polyhedrosis virus.

TL;DR: A virus which lacked the ORF 603 gene but produced polyhedrin had similar infectivity in Trichoplusia ni larvae compared to the wild-type virus.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect on the growth and development and induction of abnormalities by a glyphosate commercial formulation and its active ingredient during two developmental stages of the South-American Creole frog, Leptodactylus latrans

TL;DR: Monitoring of effects on growth, development, and the induction of morphologic abnormalities observed in the range of environmental concentrations reported for agroecosystems of Argentina constitute an alert to the potential detrimental effects of the herbicide that could be affecting the fitness and survival of anurans in agroECOSystems.
