Physiological effect of chitinase purified from Bacillus subtilis against the tobacco cutworm Spodoptera litura Fab.

TL;DR: An extracellular chitinase was purified from Bacillus subtilis and showed the highest insecticidal activity at 6 μM concentration within 48 h, and the nutritional indices were also significantly affected by the P Bt toxin.

A study of glycogen and lactate in the myotomal muscles and liver of the Coalfish (Gadus virens L.) during sustained swimming

TL;DR: Biochemical measurements made on the concentration of glycogen and lactate in the red muscle and white muscle at a series of known swimming speeds showed that red muscle alone is used at speeds below 2 bodylengtbs/s, and at speeds in excess of 2 bodylengths/s a statistically significant increase in lactate concentration occurred in the white muscle fibres.

Detection of amitraz resistance and reduced treatment efficacy in the Varroa Mite, Varroa destructor, within commercial beekeeping operations.

TL;DR: Amitraz remains an effective Varroa control product in many operations, however, apiaries across operations displayed a wide range of amitraz resistance from no resistance to high resistance that resulted in VarroA control failure, suggesting resistance monitoring protocols need to be developed.
