Journal ArticleDOI

Isolation of a Pseudomonas fluorescens metabolite/exotoxin active against both larvae and pupae of vector mosquitoes.

TL;DR: A formulation was developed from the metabolite(s) of a novel Pseudomonas fluorescens Migula strain and tested against 4th-instar larvae and pupae of three species of vector mosquitoes and is the first report of a microbial formulation acting upon mosquito pupae, a non-feeding stage.
Journal ArticleDOI

Anthelmintic activity of steroidal saponins from Dioscorea zingiberensis C. H. Wright against Dactylogyrus intermedius (Monogenea) in goldfish (Carassius auratus)

TL;DR: Investigation of the anthelmintic activity of Dioscorea zingiberensis C. H. Wright against Dactylogyrus intermedius in goldfish under in vivo conditions confirmed that both trillin and gracillin are effective against D. intermedius, and thegracillin exhibits more interesting perspectives for the development of a candidate antiparasitic agent.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis and anticonvulsant activities of (R)-(O)-methylserine derivatives

TL;DR: In this paper, the synthesis of (R)-N-benzyl-2-acetamido-3-methoxypropionamide ((R)-2) was described.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of Effects of Breast-Feeding Practices on Birth-Spacing in Three Societies - Nomadic Turkana Gainj and Quechua

TL;DR: Comparisons of suckling frequency and intensity are used to compare the effects of breast-feeding practices on the duration of lactational amenorrhoea, and on the length of the birth interval in three prospective studies undertaken during the 1980s, among Quechua Indians of Peru, Turkana nomads of Kenya, and Gainj of Papua New Guinea.
Journal ArticleDOI

Task specificity and anatomical independence in perception of properties by means of a wielded object.

TL;DR: The results show that perception reflected the action capabilities of the perceiver but was largely unaffected by the (configurations of) anatomical components used to wield the object.
