TLDR
Despite complete resection of contrast-enhancing tumor, most recurrences occurred locally, so patients with distant tumor recurrence demonstrated increased progression-free survival, and may need to shift toward a more aggressive supramarginal resection to gain local control.

Frontiers in the treatment of glioblastoma: Past, present and emerging.

TL;DR: In this paper, a comprehensive review evaluates the current and emerging therapies including those in clinical trials that may potentially improve both targeted delivery of therapeutics directly to the tumour site and the development of agents that may specifically target GBM.

The DNA-PK Inhibitor VX-984 Enhances the Radiosensitivity of Glioblastoma Cells Grown In Vitro and as Orthotopic Xenografts.

TL;DR: It is indicated that VX-984 enhances the radiosensitivity of brain tumor xenografts and suggest that it may be of benefit in the therapeutic management of GBM.

The Roles of miRNA in Glioblastoma Tumor Cell Communication: Diplomatic and Aggressive Negotiations.

TL;DR: A bidirectional miR-21 exchange increases STAT3 activity in GBM cells and macrophages, promoting invasion, proliferation, angiogenesis, and resistance to treatment in glioblastoma.

Applications of radiomics and machine learning for radiotherapy of malignant brain tumors

TL;DR: Clinical application of automated image analyses based on radiomics and artificial intelligence has a great potential for improving radiotherapy in patients with malignant brain tumors.

Supratotal resection in glioma: a systematic review

TL;DR: The literature suggests insufficient evidence for carte blanche application of supratotal resection, particularly in lower-grade gliomas where neurological deficits can result in long-term disability.

Fluorescence-guided surgery with 5-aminolevulinic acid for resection of malignant glioma: a randomised controlled multicentre phase III trial.

TL;DR: Tumour fluorescence derived from 5-aminolevulinic acid enables more complete resections of contrast-enhancing tumour, leading to improved progression-free survival in patients with malignant glioma.

Assumptions in the radiotherapy of glioblastoma

TL;DR: CT scan accuracy may permit smaller-field and higher-dose irradiation therapy for glioblastoma, and current radiation doses would appear to be inadequate for therapy of the primary tumor.
