Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19): The epidemic and the challenges.

TLDR
Among patients with pneumonia caused by SARS-CoV-2 (novel coronavirus pneumonia or Wuhan pneumonia), fever was the most common symptom, followed by cough, and bilateral lung involvement with ground-glass opacity was themost common finding from computed tomography images of the chest.

A Hypothesis for the Possible Role of Zinc in the Immunological Pathways Related to COVID-19 Infection.

TL;DR: Zinc inhibits SARS-CoV RNA polymerase, and thus its replication capacity, and may increase the efficacy of antimalarial agents, since they are zinc ionophores.
Journal ArticleDOI

SARS-CoV-2-A Tough Opponent for the Immune System.

TL;DR: Research shows that the Sars-CoV-2 can be clustered with the Bat SARS-like coronavirus, which possesses an additional, innate ability for antiviral defense, and the potential to go hand-in-hand with the virus to generate variability.
Journal ArticleDOI

Correlations of Clinical and Laboratory Characteristics of COVID-19: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

TL;DR: This paper is the first systematic review and meta-analysis to reveal the relationship between various variables of clinical characteristics, symptoms and laboratory results of patients with COVID-19 and provide “evidence-based hope” on how to manage this unanticipated and overwhelming pandemic.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dynamics of COVID-19 pandemic at constant and time-dependent contact rates

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that introduction of a cascade of multiple exposed states enables the model to reproduce the distributions of the incubation period and the serial interval reported by epidemiologists.

SARS, MERS and SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) treatment: a patent review.

TL;DR: The various antiviral alternatives presented in this review offer therapeutic options to fight coronavirus infections and may be extremely important in the current pandemic.

A Novel Coronavirus from Patients with Pneumonia in China, 2019.

TL;DR: Human airway epithelial cells were used to isolate a novel coronavirus, named 2019-nCoV, which formed a clade within the subgenus sarbecovirus, Orthocoronavirinae subfamily, which is the seventh member of the family of coronaviruses that infect humans.
Journal ArticleDOI

A pneumonia outbreak associated with a new coronavirus of probable bat origin

TL;DR: Identification and characterization of a new coronavirus (2019-nCoV), which caused an epidemic of acute respiratory syndrome in humans in Wuhan, China, and it is shown that this virus belongs to the species of SARSr-CoV, indicates that the virus is related to a bat coronav virus.
Journal ArticleDOI

Clinical Characteristics of 138 Hospitalized Patients With 2019 Novel Coronavirus-Infected Pneumonia in Wuhan, China.

TL;DR: The epidemiological and clinical characteristics of novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV)-infected pneumonia in Wuhan, China, and hospital-associated transmission as the presumed mechanism of infection for affected health professionals and hospitalized patients are described.
Journal ArticleDOI

Epidemiological and clinical characteristics of 99 cases of 2019 novel coronavirus pneumonia in Wuhan, China: a descriptive study

TL;DR: Characteristics of patients who died were in line with the MuLBSTA score, an early warning model for predicting mortality in viral pneumonia, and further investigation is needed to explore the applicability of the Mu LBSTA scores in predicting the risk of mortality in 2019-nCoV infection.
