Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19): The epidemic and the challenges.

TLDR
Among patients with pneumonia caused by SARS-CoV-2 (novel coronavirus pneumonia or Wuhan pneumonia), fever was the most common symptom, followed by cough, and bilateral lung involvement with ground-glass opacity was themost common finding from computed tomography images of the chest.

Probiotic-Based Vaccines May Provide Effective Protection against COVID-19 Acute Respiratory Disease

TL;DR: In this article, the authors highlight the existing pre-clinical and clinical information on the use of genetically modified microorganisms in control strategies against respiratory and non-respiratory viruses.
Journal ArticleDOI

Caffeine and caffeine-containing pharmaceuticals as promising inhibitors for 3-chymotrypsin-like protease of SARS-CoV-2.

TL;DR: This in silico study shows for the first time very inexpensive drugs available in large quantities that can be potential inhibitors against 3CLpro and suggests the repurposing of linagliptin, and caffeine are recommended for COVID-19 treatment.

Learning in the Age of SARS-COV-2: A Quantitative Study of Learners’ Performance in the Age of Emergency Remote Teaching

Bawa D
TL;DR: The authors found that students' sense of responsibility was enhanced by the emergency remote teaching state, which was not negatively affected when students faced Emergency Remote Teaching (ERT), and experimental groups who transitioned to ERT performed better than control groups.

Dynamic Panel Estimate-Based Health Surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 Infection Rates to Inform Public Health Policy: Model Development and Validation.

TL;DR: DPD models successfully correct for measurement error and data contamination and are useful to derive surveillance metrics and corroborates the hypothesis that economic reopening without applying best public health practices is associated with a resurgence of the pandemic.

A Novel Coronavirus from Patients with Pneumonia in China, 2019.

TL;DR: Human airway epithelial cells were used to isolate a novel coronavirus, named 2019-nCoV, which formed a clade within the subgenus sarbecovirus, Orthocoronavirinae subfamily, which is the seventh member of the family of coronaviruses that infect humans.

A pneumonia outbreak associated with a new coronavirus of probable bat origin

TL;DR: Identification and characterization of a new coronavirus (2019-nCoV), which caused an epidemic of acute respiratory syndrome in humans in Wuhan, China, and it is shown that this virus belongs to the species of SARSr-CoV, indicates that the virus is related to a bat coronav virus.

Clinical Characteristics of 138 Hospitalized Patients With 2019 Novel Coronavirus-Infected Pneumonia in Wuhan, China.

TL;DR: The epidemiological and clinical characteristics of novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV)-infected pneumonia in Wuhan, China, and hospital-associated transmission as the presumed mechanism of infection for affected health professionals and hospitalized patients are described.

Epidemiological and clinical characteristics of 99 cases of 2019 novel coronavirus pneumonia in Wuhan, China: a descriptive study

TL;DR: Characteristics of patients who died were in line with the MuLBSTA score, an early warning model for predicting mortality in viral pneumonia, and further investigation is needed to explore the applicability of the Mu LBSTA scores in predicting the risk of mortality in 2019-nCoV infection.
