TLDR
In this paper, a total deformation theory of plasticity, in conjunction with two hardening stress-strain relations, is used to determine the dominant singularity at the tip of a crack in a tension field.Abstract:
D istributions of stress occurring at the tip of a crack in a tension field are presented for both plane stress and plane strain. A total deformation theory of plasticity, in conjunction with two hardening stress-strain relations, is used. For applied stress sufficiently low such that the plastic zone is very small relative to the crack length, the dominant singularity can be completely determined with the aid of a path-independent line integral recently given by rice (1967). The amplitude of the tensile stress singularity ahead of the crack is found to be larger in plane strain than in plane stress.read more

Three-parameter K–T–Tz characterization of the crack-tip fields in compact-tension-shear specimens
Junhua Zhao,Wanlin Guo +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a complete three-parameter K-T-Tz description of the mixed-mode I/II three-dimensional (3D) crack-tip stress fields has been proposed, in which the stress intensity factor K, T-stress and out-of-plane constraint factor Tz around the crack front in compact-tension shear specimens are all the functions of the Poisson ratio v, thickness ratio zB and load angle φ.

Consideration of primary creep at a stationary crack tip: implications for the Ct parameter
TL;DR: In this article, a finite element creep analysis of a center crack specimen has been carried out under small scale to extensive creep conditions, where the crack was assumed to be stationary and several constitutive models were used; these consisted of elastic, power-law creep with and without rate independent plasticity, as well as one which also included primary creep.

Contained plastic deformation near cracks and notches under longitudinal shear
TL;DR: In this paper, an exact linear elastic-perfectly plastic solution for the problem of sharp notch (or, when the notch angle is zero, a crack) in a plane of finite width subjected to anti-plane stresses inducing a stress and deformation state of longitudinal shear is presented.
