TLDR
In this paper, a total deformation theory of plasticity, in conjunction with two hardening stress-strain relations, is used to determine the dominant singularity at the tip of a crack in a tension field.Abstract:
D istributions of stress occurring at the tip of a crack in a tension field are presented for both plane stress and plane strain. A total deformation theory of plasticity, in conjunction with two hardening stress-strain relations, is used. For applied stress sufficiently low such that the plastic zone is very small relative to the crack length, the dominant singularity can be completely determined with the aid of a path-independent line integral recently given by rice (1967). The amplitude of the tensile stress singularity ahead of the crack is found to be larger in plane strain than in plane stress.read more

Singular and non-singular approaches for predicting fatigue crack growth behavior
TL;DR: In this article, three classes of mechanisms that can cause load sequence effects on fatigue crack growth are discussed: mechanisms acting before, at or after the crack tip, and a damage accumulation model is proposed.

Brittle crack propagation/arrest behavior in steel plate – Part I: Model formulation
TL;DR: In this article, a formulation to simulate brittle crack propagation/arrest behavior in steel plates is proposed based on the local fracture criterion, and the crack behavior is simulated within a short time by repeated calculations solving the simultaneous governing equations at the crack front: fracture condition, strain hardening, yield point and dynamic stress intensity factor, without any arbitrary parameters and any complicated procedures.

TL;DR: In this article, a large number of crack tip parameters can be used in a plastic fracture resistance curve approach, such as the crack tip opening angle parameter, which can be valid for extensive stable crack growth.

Contained plastic deformation near cracks and notches under longitudinal shear
TL;DR: In this paper, an exact linear elastic-perfectly plastic solution for the problem of sharp notch (or, when the notch angle is zero, a crack) in a plane of finite width subjected to anti-plane stresses inducing a stress and deformation state of longitudinal shear is presented.
