TLDR
In this paper, a total deformation theory of plasticity, in conjunction with two hardening stress-strain relations, is used to determine the dominant singularity at the tip of a crack in a tension field.Abstract:
D istributions of stress occurring at the tip of a crack in a tension field are presented for both plane stress and plane strain. A total deformation theory of plasticity, in conjunction with two hardening stress-strain relations, is used. For applied stress sufficiently low such that the plastic zone is very small relative to the crack length, the dominant singularity can be completely determined with the aid of a path-independent line integral recently given by rice (1967). The amplitude of the tensile stress singularity ahead of the crack is found to be larger in plane strain than in plane stress.read more

Hydrogen concentration limit and critical temperatures for delayed hydride cracking in zirconium alloys
TL;DR: In this paper, a theoretical analysis was carried out to quantitatively derive the hydrogen concentration limit and these critical temperatures, and a model for a previously observed critical temperature (T A ) was also proposed.

Microscopy and microindentation mechanics of single crystal Fe−3 wt. % Si: Part II. TEM of the indentation plastic zone
TL;DR: In this paper, dislocation arrangements about a range of microindentations into the face of an Fe−3 wt. % Si single crystal have been accomplished, with the experimental observations being reasonably consistent with continuum models.

Cyclic plasticity and variable amplitude fatigue
TL;DR: Load history effects are observed both in cyclic plasticity and during fatigue crack growth as mentioned in this paper, which is analogous to a kinematic hardening effect, but related to crack tip mechanical fields.

Irradiation damage effects on the fracture toughness transition curve shape for reactor pressure vessel steels
TL;DR: In this paper, a micromechanism based statistical cleavage fracture model is applied to analyze existing fracture toughness data and it is shown that the fracture toughness transition curve shape is really insensitive to irradiation damage.

Contained plastic deformation near cracks and notches under longitudinal shear
TL;DR: In this paper, an exact linear elastic-perfectly plastic solution for the problem of sharp notch (or, when the notch angle is zero, a crack) in a plane of finite width subjected to anti-plane stresses inducing a stress and deformation state of longitudinal shear is presented.
