Dehydroascorbate Uptake and Reduction by Human Blood Neutrophils, Erythrocytes, and Lymphocytes
TL;DR: To determine whether tissue differences in dehydroascorbate reducing activities might correlate with differences in sensitivity to ionizing radiation and oxidant stresses, the authors have measured dehydroASorbate uptake and reduction, along with changes in C-1 glucose oxidation, during incubation of neutrophils, erythrocytes, and lymphocytes with dehydroASCorbate.
Journal ArticleDOI
Some Aspects of the Metabolism of Ascorbic Acid in Rats
TL;DR: Results tend to indicate an especially important effect on one phase of the synthesis of ascorbic acid following glucuronic acid, as well as a stimulatory action of growth hormone and of Chloretone above that provided by an increase in formation of glucuonic acid.

Vitamin C Activity of 2-O-.ALPHA.-D-Glucopyranosyl-L-Ascorbic Acid in Guinea Pigs.
TL;DR: Results showed that AA-2G has the same vitamin C activity as AsA on a molar basis for the orally supplemented guinea pigs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ascorbic and dehydroascorbic acid measurement in human serum and plasma.
TL;DR: The results imply that whole blood has the capacity to maintain a constant ascorbic-dehydroascorbic acid ratio and suggest that this ratio may be of physiological significance.

Effects of postharvest ethanol vapor treatment on the ascorbate–glutathione cycle in broccoli florets
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of post-harvest ethanol vapor treatment on the cycle in broccoli florets were investigated to clarify the inhibition of senescence with ethanol, and the results suggest that ethanol vapour treatment might suppress the decrease in reducing substances and enzyme activities associated with the ascorbate-glutathione cycle to reduce oxidative stress through effective removal of hydrogen peroxide.
