Renoprotection by ACE Inhibition or Aldosterone Blockade Is Blood Pressure–Dependent
TL;DR: Data show that protection by renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system blockade in this model is BP-dependent and mediated by preventing the severe increases in BP seen in untreated salt-supplemented SHRsp and further underscore the limitations of interpretations based on conventional tail-cuff BP measurements.
Journal ArticleDOI
Incidence of new coronary events in older persons with prior myocardial infarction and serum low-density lipoprotein cholesterol ≥125 mg/dl treated with statins versus no lipid-lowering drug
Wilbert S. Aronow,Chul Ahn +1 more
TL;DR: The Cochran-Armitage test was used to examine if there was a trend in the reduction of new coronary events in persons treated with statins as the last level of serum LDL cholesterol decreased, and levels of statistical significance were listed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diuretic induced hyponatraemia in elderly hypertensive women
Yehonatan Sharabi,R Illan,Yehuda Kamari,Yehuda Kamari,H Cohen,H Cohen,M Nadler,M Nadler,Franz H. Messerli,Ehud Grossman,Ehud Grossman +10 more
TL;DR: Diuretic-induced hyponatraemia may be insidious and appear even after prolonged diuretic use, and Elderly women seem to be at particularly high risk.
Journal ArticleDOI
The accuracy and clinical feasibility of a new Bayesian-based closed-loop control system for propofol administration using the bispectral index as a controlled variable
Tom De Smet,Michel Struys,Martine Neckebroek,Kristof Van den Hauwe,Sjoert Bonte,Eric Mortier +5 more
TL;DR: The Bayesian-based closed-loop control system for propofol administration using the BIS as a controlled variable performed accurate during anesthesia for ambulatory gynecological procedures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Daily regimen and compliance with treatment : Fewer daily doses and drugs with fewer side effects improve compliance
TL;DR: At most, 50% of people with chronic disease comply with their doctor's recommendations, irrespective of disease, treatment, or age, and doctors and patients are equally responsible for this abysmal state of affairs.
