Hypertension knowledge, awareness, and attitudes in a hypertensive population.

TL;DR: It is suggested that, although general knowledge and awareness of HTN is adequate, patients do not have a comprehensive understanding of this condition, and an opportunity exists to focus patient education programs and interventions on the cardiovascular risk associated with uncontrolled HTN, particularly elevated SBP levels.
Journal ArticleDOI

Blood Pressure Response to Heart Rate During Exercise Test and Risk of Future Hypertension

TL;DR: The results suggest that an exaggerated blood pressure response to heart rate during exercise is predictive of future hypertension independent of other important risk factors and lend further support to the concept that blood pressure measurement during exercise test is a valuable means of identifying normotensive individuals at high risk for developing hypertension.
Journal ArticleDOI

Serum Uric Acid Levels and the Risk of Type 2 Diabetes: A Prospective Study

TL;DR: These prospective data from 2 generations of the Framingham Heart Study provide evidence that individuals with higher serum uric acid; including younger adults, are at a higher future risk of type 2 diabetes independent of other known risk factors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cardioselective beta-blockers in patients with reactive airway disease: a meta-analysis.

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of cardioselective beta-blockers on respiratory function of patients with reactive airway disease was evaluated in randomized, blinded, and placebo-controlled trials.

ORIGINAL INVESTIGATIONS Pathogenesis and Treatment of Kidney Disease and Hypertension Early Detection of Kidney Disease in Community Settings: The Kidney Early Evaluation Program (KEEP)

TL;DR: In this article, a targeted screening program was proposed to detect previously unidentified persons with or at high risk for chronic kidney disease (CKD) with a prevalence that exceeds that predicted for CKD in the general population.
