Longitudinal effects of environmental noise and air pollution exposure on autism spectrum disorder and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder during adolescence and early adulthood: The TRAILS study.

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors examined the longitudinal effects of ambient noise and air pollution on ASD and ADHD symptom severity during adolescence and early adulthood, using a longitudinal design, and they found evidence that higher levels of exposure to PM were associated with more severe autism and ADHD symptoms.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of Blood Lead Level as a Risk Factor in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder: A Case Control Study

TL;DR: There was a significant difference between mean ages of mother at child’s birth in both case and control group and history of pica was exclusively present in case group indicating that children in ASD group had more exposure to lead than those of control group.

External benefits of a road transportation system with vehicle-to-everything communications

TL;DR: In this paper , a mixed logit model is used to analyse the heterogeneity of the respondents' preferences for cooperative intelligent transport system (C-ITS) and find that the marginal willingness to pay for reducing traffic congestion, reducing traffic accidents, improving fuel economy, reducing particulate matter emissions and reducing GHG emissions are KRW 137.63/%, KRW 189.92/, KRW 82.71/), KRW 447.47/%, and KRW 81.03/%, respectively.

Environmental Exposure & Autism: The Role of Physician Counseling in Incidence Reduction

TL;DR: It is proposed here that physician counseling of patients include information about the identification and avoidance of exposures to environmental neurotoxins that have been identified as causative agents for autism and autism spectrum disorder and that such counseling will lead to a decrease in the incidence of these diseases.

Mullen Scales of Early Learning

TL;DR: The Mullen Scales of Early Learning (MSEL) as mentioned in this paper includes five scales that provide information on cognitive and motor ability, including Gross Motor (0-33 months only), Visual Reception, Fine Motor, Expressive Language and Receptive Language.

Ultrafine Particles Cross Cellular Membranes by Nonphagocytic Mechanisms in Lungs and in Cultured Cells

TL;DR: Inhaled ultrafine titanium dioxide particles were found on the luminal side of airways and alveoli, in all major lung tissue compartments and cells, and within capillaries, while particle uptake in vitro did not occur by any of the expected endocytic processes, but rather by diffusion or adhesive interactions.

Prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorders: Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring Network, United States, 2006. Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. Surveillance Summaries. Volume 58, Number SS-10.

TL;DR: The identified prevalence of ASDs in U.S. children aged 8 years was estimated through a systematic retrospective review of evaluation records in multiple sites participating in the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) Network and presence of an identified ASD was determined through a review of data abstracted from developmental evaluation records by trained clinician reviewers.
Journal ArticleDOI

Air pollution: mechanisms of neuroinflammation and CNS disease

TL;DR: Recent findings detailing the mechanisms through which air pollution reaches the brain and activates the resident innate immune response to become a chronic source of pro-inflammatory factors and ROS, culminating in CNS disease are summarized.
