Effect of rogue particles on the sub-surface damage of fused silica during grinding/polishing
Tayyab I. Suratwala,R. Steele,Michael D. Feit,L L Wong,Phil Miller,Joseph A. Menapace,Pete J. Davis +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the distribution and characteristics of surface cracks on fused silica formed during grinding/polishing resulting from the addition of rogue particles in the base slurry.

Friction and wear behaviour of unfilled engineering thermoplastics
Huseyin Unal,Abdullah Mimaroglu +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the influence of test speed and load values on the friction and wear behavior of polyamide 6 (PA 6), polyoxymethylene (POM), and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene(UHMWPE) engineering polymers was studied and explored.

Wear behavior of Al 5252 alloy reinforced with micrometric and nanometric SiC particles
TL;DR: In this article, the dry sliding wear behavior of Al 5252 alloy and its composites reinforced with nanometric or micrometric SiC particles is studied, and the dominant wear mechanisms are determined using microstructural characterization, hardness measurement, EDS analysis as well as microscopic studies of wear surfaces and debris.

Thermoforming simulation of multilayer composites with continuous fibres and thermoplastic matrix
TL;DR: In this paper, a simulation approach for thermoforming of multilayer thermoplastic is presented, where each prepreg layer is modelled by semi-discrete shell elements, considering the tension, inplane shear and bending behaviour of the ply at different temperatures around the fusion point.
