The erosive wear of mild and stainless steels under controlled corrosion in alkaline slurries containing alumina particles
H. W. Wang,Margaret Stack +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the erosive wear in an alkaline slurry containing alumina particles of three typical engineering materials, the mild steel BS 6323 (Fe), the AISI 410 stainless steel (Fe-Cr-C), and the AisI 304 stainless steel, was carried out, by means of rotating cylinder, three-electrode erosion-corrosion test, with a view to investigation into the roles of the typical elements and the mechanical and chemical properties in the effect of simultaneous controlled corrosion.
Journal ArticleDOI
Roughness influence on the optical properties and scratch behavior of acrylic coating deposited on sandblasted glass
TL;DR: In this article, acrylic coatings were applied on soda-lime glass to correct the loss of optical properties due to sandblasting, and the resulting polymeric coating reduced the surface roughness and improved significantly the optical transmission.
Journal ArticleDOI
Wear, friction, and microhardness of a thermal sprayed PET: poly (ethylene terephthalate) coating
Rogério Antônio Xavier Nunes,Rogério Antônio Xavier Nunes,Vilma C. Costa,Verônica Calado,José Roberto Tavares Branco,José Roberto Tavares Branco +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of combustion thermal spraying parameters namely combustion pressure, feeding rate, and carrier gas on the wear resistance, friction coefficient, and Knoop hardness of poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PET) films were investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Erosion mechanisms of monocrystalline silicon under a microparticle laden air jet
Q. L. Li,Jun Wang,Chenxi Huang +2 more
TL;DR: In this article, the impact of micro-solid particles entrained by an air jet and the associated microscopic erosion mechanisms are discussed and classified into three categories, namely, craters, scratches, and microdents.

Analysis of the micro-abrasive wear behavior of an iron aluminide alloy under ambient and high-temperature conditions
TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the micro-abrasive wear behavior of an iron aluminide alloy to determine correlations between the abrasive wear modes, volume of wear (V), and coefficient of friction (µ).
