TL;DR: DNA damage induced in vitro by direct two-photon absorption of frequency-doubled femtosecond pulses from a Ti:sapphire laser indicates that the onset of DNA damage occurs at lower intensities in vivo; possible explanations for this discrepancy are suggested.
