Journal ArticleDOI

Friedel oscillations in microwave billiards

TL;DR: It is found that the oscillations in the pseudointegrable microwave cavity match the random plane-wave modeling, which is normally only appropriate for the eigenfunctions of a purely chaotic system.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nuclear astrophysics with radioactive ions at FAIR

Rene Reifarth, +319 more
TL;DR: The Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR) will offer unique, unprecedented opportunities to investigate many of the important reactions as discussed by the authors, even far away from the valley of stability, allowing the investigation of isotopes involved in processes as exotic as the r or rp processes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Giant resonances — experiments at highest resolution, wavelets and scales

TL;DR: In this article, wavelet transforms are introduced for the extraction of scales characterizing the fine structure of the giant quadrupole resonance (ISGQR) and evaluating their relative importance.
Journal ArticleDOI

Proton scattering at intermediate energies on Ni-58: How well is it understood?

TL;DR: In this article, the excitation-energy region up to 23 MeV in Ni-58 has been investigated with the (p,p(')) reaction at an incident energy of 172 MeV and forward angles favoring the spin-dipole mode in the continuum.
Journal ArticleDOI

Search for narrow nucleon resonances below pion threshold in theH(e,e′π+)Xand2H(e,e′p)Xreactions

TL;DR: In two series of high-resolution coincidence experiments at the three-spectrometer facility at MAMI, the $\mathrm{H}{(e,e}^{\ensuremath{'}}{pi}}^{+})X$ and ${}^{2}$ reactions were studied to search for narrow nucleon resonances below pion threshold as discussed by the authors, and none of their measurements showed a signal for narrow resonances to a level of down to ${10}^{-}4}$ with respect to the neutron peak in the missing-mass spectra.
