Revised rates for the stellar triple-alpha process from measurement of C-12 nuclear resonances
H. O. U. Fynbo,C. A. Diget,Uffe C Bergmann,María José García Borge,Joakim Cederkäll,Peter Dendooven,L. M. Fraile,S. Franchoo,Valentin Fedosseev,B. R. Fulton,Wenxue Huang,Jussi Huikari,Henrik B. Jeppesen,A. Jokinen,A. Jokinen,Peter M. Jones,Björn Jonson,Ulli Köster,Karlheinz Langanke,Mikael Meister,Thomas Nilsson,Göran Hugo Nyman,Yolanda Prezado,K. Riisager,Sami Rinta-Antila,Olof Tengblad,M. Turrión,Y. Wang,Leonid Weissman,K. Wilhelmsen,J. Äystö,J. Äystö +31 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reported a measurement of the inverse process, where a C-12 nucleus decays to three alpha-particles, and calculated the triple-a rate for temperatures from 10(7) K to 10(10) K and found significant deviations from the standard rates, implying that the critical amounts of carbon that catalysed hydrogen burning in the first stars are produced twice as fast as previously believed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Elastic scattering and reaction mechanisms of the halo nucleus 11Be around the Coulomb barrier
A. Di Pietro,G. Randisi,Valentina Scuderi,L. Acosta,F. Amorini,M. J. G. Borge,P. Figuera,Maria Fisichella,L. M. Fraile,Joaquín Gómez-Camacho,Henrik B. Jeppesen,M. Lattuada,Ismael Martel,Matko Milin,A. Musumarra,M. Papa,M. G. Pellegriti,Francisco Pérez-Bernal,R. Raabe,F. Rizzo,Domenico Santonocito,G. Scalia,Olof Tengblad,D. Torresi,A. Maira Vidal,D. Voulot,F. Wenander,Mile Zadro +27 more
TL;DR: The extracted total-reaction cross section for the 11Be collision is more than double the ones measured in the collisions induced by (9,10)Be, and it is shown that such a strong enhancement of thetotal-re reaction cross section with 11Be is due to transfer and breakup processes.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed to install a storage ring at an ISOL-type radioactive beam facility for the first time, which can provide a capability for experiments with stored secondary beams that is unique in the world.

TL;DR: The "island of inversion" nucleus 32 Mg has been studied by a (t, p) two neutron transfer reaction in inverse kinematics at REX-ISOLDE and the characteristic angular distribution of the protons of the Δ L=0 transfer has been identified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nuclear charge radii of neutron-deficient lead isotopes beyond N = 104 midshell investigated by in-source laser spectroscopy.
H. De Witte,A. N. Andreyev,N. Barré,M. Bender,Thomas Elias Cocolios,S. Dean,D. V. Fedorov,V. N. Fedoseyev,L. M. Fraile,S. Franchoo,V. Hellemans,Paul-Henri Heenen,Kristiaan Heyde,G. Van Duppen,Yu. M. Volkov +29 more
TL;DR: The shape of exotic even-mass (182-190)Pb isotopes was probed by measurement of optical isotope shifts providing mean square charge radii (delta(r(2))), and the data support the predominantly spherical shape of the ground state of the proton-magic Z=82 lead isotopes near neutron midshell.
