Journal ArticleDOI
Halofuginone has anti-proliferative effects in acute promyelocytic leukemia by modulating the transforming growth factor beta signaling pathway
Lorena Lobo de Figueiredo-Pontes,Patricia A. Assis,Barbara A. Santana-Lemos,Rafael H. Jacomo,Ana Silvia G. Lima,Aglair Bergamo Garcia,Carolina Hassibe Thomé,Amelia G. Araujo,Rodrigo Alexandre Panepucci,Marco Antonio Zago,Arnon Nagler,Roberto Passetto Falcão,Eduardo Magalhães Rego +12 more
TL;DR: Halofuginone has anti-proliferative and anti-leukemic effects by reversing the TGFβ blockade in APL, and modulation of TGF β signaling may be of therapeutic interest.
Journal ArticleDOI
Outcome of allogeneic hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation for adult patients with AML and 11q23/MLL rearrangement (MLL-r AML).
Arnaud Pigneux,M. Labopin,Johan Maertens,Catherine Cordonnier,Liisa Volin,Gérard Socié,Didier Blaise,Charles Craddock,Noel-Jean Milpied,Ulrike Bacher,Florent Malard,Jordi Esteve,Arnon Nagler,M. Mohty +13 more
TL;DR: The potential role of alloHSCT for adult patients with 11q23/MLL rearranged AML allografted in first complete remission in CR1 is confirmed, confirming the potential role in patients receiving an allogeneic hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparable outcomes of haploidentical, 10/10 and 9/10 unrelated donor transplantation in adverse karyotype AML in first complete remission
Francesca Lorentino,Myriam Labopin,Massimo Bernardi,Fabio Ciceri,Gérard Socié,Jan J. Cornelissen,Jordi Esteve,Annalisa Ruggeri,Liisa Volin,Ibrahim Yacoub-Agha,Charles Craddock,Jacob Passweg,Didier Blaise,Tobias Gedde-Dahl,Monica Poiani,Nathalie Fegueux,Mohamad Mohty,Arnon Nagler,Marrow Transplantation +18 more
TL;DR: In the present series of adverse cytogenetics AML patients in CR1, Haplo HSCT recipients had comparable outcomes to those of 10/10 and 9/10 UDs, suggesting that all these types of HSCT may be considered a valid option in this high risk population.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diffuse Alveolar Hemorrhage Following Allogeneic Bone Marrow Transplantation in Children
TL;DR: Diffuse alveolar hemorrhage is a potentially fatal respiratory complication that should be included early in the differential diagnosis of acute respiratory failure in children following allogenic BMT for both malignant and nonmalignant diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI
NK cell receptor NKp46 regulates graft-versus-host disease.
Hormas Ghadially,Meir Ohana,Moran Elboim,Roi Gazit,Chamutal Gur,Arnon Nagler,Ofer Mandelboim +6 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that in the absence of NKp46, a major killer receptor expressed by human and mouse natural killer cells, GVHD is greatly exacerbated, resulting in rapid mortality of the transplanted animals because of infection with commensal bacteria.
