Systematic identification of trans eQTLs as putative drivers of known disease associations

Harm-Jan Westra, +60 more
- 01 Oct 2013 -
TL;DR: Variants associated with cholesterol metabolism and type 1 diabetes showed similar phenomena, indicating that large-scale eQTL mapping provides insight into the downstream effects of many trait-associated variants.
Journal ArticleDOI

Innate immune activity conditions the effect of regulatory variants upon monocyte gene expression.

TL;DR: This work mapped interindividual variation in gene expression as a quantitative trait, defining expression quantitative trait loci (eQTLs) and found trans associations to the major histocompatibility complex are dependent on context, paralleling the expression of class II genes.
Posted ContentDOI

Unraveling the polygenic architecture of complex traits using blood eQTL metaanalysis

Urmo Võsa, +100 more
- 19 Oct 2018 -
TL;DR: It is observed that cis-eQTLs can be detected for 88% of the studied genes, but that they have a different genetic architecture compared to disease-associated variants, limiting the ability to use cis- eZTLs to pinpoint causal genes within susceptibility loci.
