Journal ArticleDOI
Addition of cetuximab to oxaliplatin-based first-line combination chemotherapy for treatment of advanced colorectal cancer: results of the randomised phase 3 MRC COIN trial
Timothyn Stanley Maughan,Richard Adams,Christopher Smith,A Meade,Matthew T. Seymour,Richard H. Wilson,Shelley Idziaszczyk,Rebecca Harris,David Fisher,S Kenny,Edward Kay,Jenna K. Mitchell,A Madi,Bharat Jasani,Michelle D. James,John Bridgewater,M. John Kennedy,Bart Claes,Diether Lambrechts,Richard Kaplan,Jeremy Peter Cheadle +20 more
TL;DR: This trial has not confirmed a benefit of addition of cetuximab to oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy in first-line treatment of patients with advanced colorectal cancer, with no evidence of benefit in progression-free or overall survival in KRAS wild-type patients or even in patients selected by additional mutational analysis of their tumours.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: With resources to conduct further high-quality targeted research focusing on the gaps identified, increased knowledge translating into improved clinical care should be achievable within five years.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reliability of immunohistochemical demonstration of oestrogen receptors in routine practice: interlaboratory variance in the sensitivity of detection and evaluation of scoring systems.
TL;DR: There is considerable interlaboratory variability, especially in relation to the detection of breast cancers with low oestrogen receptor positivity, with a false negative rate of between 30% and 60%.
Journal ArticleDOI
A simple post-embedding system for the rapid demonstration of tissue antigens under the electron microscope.
TL;DR: High-resolution micrographs showing general staining of rat pancreas, and immunostaining of insulin and TSH in storage granules in perfusion-fixed rat tissue and of lambda-chain immunoreactive cells in immersion-fixed human tonsil are included as examples.
Journal ArticleDOI
Powerful strategy for polymerase chain reaction-based clonality assessment in T-cell malignancies Report of the BIOMED-2 Concerted Action BHM4 CT98-3936.
Monika Brüggemann,Helen E. White,P. Gaulard,Ramón García-Sanz,Paula Gameiro,S. Oeschger,Bharat Jasani,Melanie Ott,Georges Delsol,A. Delfau-Larue,Michael Kneba,J. J. M. Van Dongen,Kheira Beldjord,Thierry Jo Molina +26 more
TL;DR: This study indicates that the BIOMED-2 multiplex PCR tubes provide a powerful strategy for clonality assessment in T- cell malignancies assisting the firm diagnosis of T-cell neoplasms.
