Health technology transfer
Eva Harris,Marcel Tanner +1 more
TL;DR: This work discusses key elements for transfer of technologies in health research and presents two case studies of such programmes, including North-South and South-South partnerships, and building local scientific capacity in developing countries.
Journal ArticleDOI
The decline of dengue in the Americas in 2017: discussion of multiple hypotheses.
Freddy Perez,Anthony Llau,Gamaliel Gutierrez,Haroldo Bezerra,Giovanini E. Coelho,Steven K. Ault,Sulamita Brandao Barbiratto,Marcelo C. Resende,Lizbeth Cerezo,Giovanni Luz Kleber,Oscar Pacheco,Octavio Lenin Perez,Victor Picos,Diana Patricia Rojas,João Bosco Siqueira,Marco F. Suárez,Eva Harris,Luis Gerardo Castellanos,Carlos A. Espinal,Jose Luis San Martin +19 more
TL;DR: This work aimed to provide plausible explanations for the decline in reported dengue incidence cases within the Americas in 2017, including severe and fatal cases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comprehensive innate immune profiling of chikungunya virus infection in pediatric cases.
Daniela Michlmayr,Theodore R. Pak,Adeeb Rahman,El-ad David Amir,Eun Young Kim,Seunghee Kim-Schulze,Maria Suprun,Michael G. Stewart,Guajira P. Thomas,Angel Balmaseda,Li Wang,Jun Zhu,Mayte Suárez-Fariñas,Steven M. Wolinsky,Andrew Kasarskis,Eva Harris +15 more
TL;DR: A multiscale network is presented that summarizes all observed modulations across cellular and transcriptomic levels and their interactions with clinical outcomes, providing a uniquely global view of the biomolecular landscape of human CHIKV infection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structural basis for antibody inhibition of flavivirus NS1–triggered endothelial dysfunction
Scott B. Biering,David L. Akey,Marcus P Wong,W. Clay Brown,Nicholas T. N. Lo,Henry Puerta-Guardo,Francielle Tramontini Gomes de Sousa,Chunling Wang,Jamie R. Konwerski,Diego A. Espinosa,Nicholas J. Bockhaus,Dustin R. Glasner,Jeffrey S Li,Sophie F. Blanc,Evan Y. Juan,Stephen J. Elledge,Michael J. Mina,P. Robert Beatty,Janet L. Smith,Eva Harris +19 more
TL;DR: In this article, three crystal structures of full-length dengue virus NS1 complexed with a flavivirus-cross-reactive, NS1-specific monoclonal antibody, 2B7, at resolutions between 2.89 and 3.96 angstroms were presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Temporal dynamics of the transcriptional response to dengue virus infection in Nicaraguan children.
TL;DR: Differences in the timing and magnitude of human gene transcript abundance changes in DENV patients that were associated with serologic evidence of prior infection and with disease severity are identified and some of these differential features may predict the outcome of DENV infection.
