Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term outcome in patients with a pathological complete response after chemoradiation for rectal cancer: a pooled analysis of individual patient data
Monique Maas,Patty J. Nelemans,Vincenzo Valentini,Prajnan Das,Claus Rödel,Li Jen Kuo,Felipe A. Calvo,Julio Garcia-Aguilar,Rob Glynne-Jones,Karin Haustermans,Mohammed Mohiuddin,Salvatore Pucciarelli,William Small,Javier Suárez,George Theodoropoulos,Sebastiano Biondo,Sebastiano Biondo,Regina G. H. Beets-Tan,Geerard L. Beets +18 more
TL;DR: Patients with pCR after chemoradiation have better long-term outcome than do those without pCR, and pCR might be indicative of a prognostically favourable biological tumour profile with less propensity for local or distant recurrence and improved survival.
Journal ArticleDOI
T-Level Downstaging and Complete Pathologic Response After Preoperative Chemoradiation for Advanced Rectal Cancer Result in Decreased Recurrence and Improved Disease-Free Survival
George Theodoropoulos,William E. Wise,Anantha Padmanabhan,Bruce A. Kerner,Colin W. Taylor,Pedro S. Aguilar,Karamjit S. Khanduja +6 more
TL;DR: T-level downstaging and complete pathologic response after preoperative chemoradiation therapy followed by definitive surgical resection for advanced rectal cancer resulted in decreased recurrence and improved disease-free survival.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genome-wide association study identifies multiple susceptibility loci for pancreatic cancer

TL;DR: This study identified multiple new susceptibility alleles for pancreatic cancer that are worthy of follow-up studies and an independent signal in exon 2 of TERT at the established region 5p15.
Journal ArticleDOI
Circulating MicroRNA in inflammatory bowel disease.
Archanioti Paraskevi,George Theodoropoulos,Ioannis Papaconstantinou,Gerassimos J. Mantzaris,Nikolaos Nikiteas,Maria Gazouli +5 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that several miRNAs could distinguish CD from UC by real-time PCR, which further highlights the putative role of mi RNAs as contributors to IBD pathogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Serum IL-6, TNFalpha and CRP levels in Greek colorectal cancer patients: prognostic implications.
Nikolaos Nikiteas,Nikolaos Tzanakis,Maria Gazouli,George Rallis,Kessaris Daniilidis,George Theodoropoulos,Alkiviadis Kostakis,George Peros +7 more
TL;DR: Pre-operative serum elevation of IL-6 and CRP was found to be predictor of the prognosis of CRC patients and the clinical value of TNFalpha in CRC needs to be further investigated.
