Tucker,Daniela S. Gerhard,Joseph F. Fraumeni,Robert N. Hoover,Gilles Thomas,Stephen J. Chanock +35 more
TL;DR: Four SNPs in intron 2 of FGFR2 (which encodes a receptor tyrosine kinase and is amplified or overexpressed in some breast cancers) that were highly associated with breast cancer were identified and confirmed in 1,776 affected individuals and 2,072 controls from three additional studies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hunter,Stephen J. Chanock,Gilles Thomas +38 more
TL;DR: Observations indicate the presence of at least two independent loci within 8q24 that contribute to prostate cancer in men of European ancestry, and it is estimated that the population attributable risk of the new locus, marked by rs6983267, is higher than the locus marked byrs1447295.

Hunter,Stephen J. Chanock +46 more
TL;DR: The findings point to multiple loci with moderate effects associated with susceptibility to prostate cancer that, taken together, in the future may predict high risk in select individuals.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: Strong genome-wide significant associations with 25(OH)D are confirmed through meta-analysis with the GWAS data for GC, NADSYN1/DHCR7, CYP2R1 and CYP 2R1, but not C10orf88, the key C-25 hydroxylase that converts vitamin D3 to an active vitamin D receptor ligand.

TL;DR: In this paper, a two-stage genome-wide association study of pancreatic cancer, a cancer with one of the lowest survival rates worldwide, was conducted, where 558,542 SNPs were genotyped in 1,896 individuals and 1,939 controls drawn from 12 prospective cohorts plus one hospital-based case-control study.
