Journal ArticleDOI
Contractions but not AICAR increase FABPpm content in rat muscle sarcolemma.
TL;DR: It is shown that contractions increase both FAT/CD36 and FABPpm protein content in skeletal muscle plasma membrane, whereas only FAT/ CD36 protein content is increased when muscle are stimulated with AICAR.
Journal ArticleDOI
Human embryonic stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes as an in vitro model to study cardiac insulin resistance
Ilvy M. E. Geraets,Dipanjan Chanda,Florence H J van Tienen,Arthur van den Wijngaard,Rick Kamps,Dietbert Neumann,Yilin Liu,Jan F. C. Glatz,Joost J. F. P. Luiken,Miranda Nabben +9 more
TL;DR: It is proposed that HP-treated hESC-CMs are a promising in vitro model of lipid overload-induced IR for further research into the underlying mechanism of cardiac IR and for identifying new pharmacological agents and therapeutic strategies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Suspected acute coronary syndrome in the emergency room: Limited added value of heart type fatty acid binding protein point of care or ELISA tests: The FAME-ER (Fatty Acid binding protein in Myocardial infarction Evaluation in the Emergency Room) study.
Ingrid E M Bank,Marieke S. Dekker,Arno W. Hoes,Nicolaas P.A. Zuithoff,Peter W. H. M. Verheggen,Evelyn A. de Vrey,Thierry X. Wildbergh,Leo Timmers,Dominique P.V. de Kleijn,Jan F. C. Glatz,A. Mosterd +10 more
TL;DR: In patients suspected of acute coronary syndrome presenting to the emergency department, H-FABP testing improves diagnostic accuracy in addition to clinical findings and electrocardiography, but has no additional diagnostic value when hs-cTnT measurements are also available.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cardiac multi-marker strategy for effective diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction.
Qin Xu,Cangel Pui-yee Chan,Xiao-yao Cao,Peng Peng,Maisumu Mahemuti,Qi Sun,Kwan Yee Cheung,Wai-sze Ip,Xin-rong Zhou,Ge-yang Hu,Xiao-feng Zhang,Jiasharete Jielile,Yao-dong Li,Rong Ren,Jan F. C. Glatz,Reinhard Renneberg +15 more
TL;DR: A cardiac panel consisting of H-FABP and troponin is recommended and was found to have higher diagnostic accuracy than cTnI and CK-MB in patients admitted within 3h.
Journal ArticleDOI
Munc18c provides stimulus-selective regulation of GLUT4 but not fatty acid transporter trafficking in skeletal muscle
Swati S. Jain,Laelie A. Snook,Jan F. C. Glatz,Joost J. F. P. Luiken,Graham P. Holloway,Debbie C. Thurmond,Arend Bonen +6 more
TL;DR: Munc18c provides stimulus‐specific regulation of GLUT4 trafficking, but not FA transporter trafficking, and its effects on muscle glucose and FA transport, sarcolemmal FA transporter appearance, and contraction‐mediated mitochondrial FAT/CD36 were increased normally.
