Journal ArticleDOI

Role of a p53 polymorphism in the development of human papillomavirus-associated cancer.

TL;DR: Allelic analysis of patients with HPV-associated tumours revealed a striking overrepresentation of homozygous arginine-72 p53 compared with the normal population, which indicated that individuals homozygously for arginin 72 are about seven times more susceptible to HPV- associated tumorigenesis than heterozygotes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hospital admission and emergency care attendance risk for SARS-CoV-2 delta (B.1.617.2) compared with alpha (B.1.1.7) variants of concern: a cohort study.

Katherine A Twohig, +607 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compared the severity of the delta variant compared with the alpha variant by determining the relative risk of hospital attendance outcomes and found that outbreaks of the Delta variant in unvaccinated populations might lead to a greater burden on health-care services than the alpha variants.
Journal ArticleDOI

Human papillomavirus infection and non-melanoma skin cancer in immunosuppressed and immunocompetent individuals.

TL;DR: Evidence is provided that the prevalence and spectrum of HPV types does not differ in squamous cell carcinomas, basalcell carcinomas or premalignancies within the two populations, which has important implications for future investigation of the role of HPV in cutaneous carcinogenesis at a functional level.
