TL;DR: A new global database of Rdark and associated leaf traits is analyzed and values at any given Vcmax or leaf nitrogen concentration were higher in herbs than in woody plants, and variation in Rdark among species and across global gradients in T and aridity is highlighted.

TL;DR: Using the largest global plant trait database and state of the art Bayesian modeling, fine-grained global maps of plant trait distributions that can be applied to Earth system models are created and reveal that the most diverse grid cells possess trait variability close to the range of global PFT means.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bare-Soil Evaporation Under Semiarid Field Conditions
TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured daily evaporation gravimetrically and estimated evapore rates using the energy balance method of Ben-Asher et al. They hypothesized that soil texture would have a great influence on both the temporal dynamics of bare-soil evapure, as well as on the depth to which evapseoration-influenced soil water content throughout a 51-d simulated drought period.
Journal ArticleDOI
Foliar respiration acclimation to temperature and temperature variable Q10 alter ecosystem carbon balance
TL;DR: In this article, a temperature-driven basal respiration algorithm (Rdacclim) and a temperature variable Q10 algorithm (Q10var) were proposed to model the response of respiration to temperature in plants.

TL;DR: In this article, the vulnerability of forest ecosystems in Michigan's eastern Upper Peninsula and northern Lower Peninsula to a range of future climate changes was evaluated using information on current forest conditions, observed climate trends, projected climate changes, and impacts to forest ecosystems.
