Journal ArticleDOI
Size-selective assessment of airborne particles in swine confinement building with the UVAPS
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the Ultraviolet Aerodynamic Particle Sizer (UVAPS) for real-time monitoring of viable bioaerosols inside a swine confinement building.
Journal ArticleDOI
The role of sulphates and organic vapours in growth of newly formed particles in a eucalypt forest
Zoran Ristovski,Tanja Suni,Markku Kulmala,Michael Boy,Nicholas Meyer,Nicholas Meyer,Jonathan Duplissy,Jonathan Duplissy,Andrew Turnipseed,Lidia Morawska,U. Baltensperger +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, it is shown that the particles are composed of both sulphates and organics, with the amount of sulphate component strongly depending on the available gas-phase sulphuric acid, and the organic components having the same volatility and hygroscopicity as photo-oxidation products of a monoterpene such as α-pinene.

Estimation of airborne viral emission: quanta emission rate of SARS-CoV-2 for infection risk assessment
TL;DR: A novel approach to estimate the viral Load emitted by a contagious subject on the basis of the viral load in the mouth, the type of respiratory activity, and activity level is proposed, which is in good agreement with values of viral loads of well-known diseases from the literature.
Journal ArticleDOI
In-car particulate matter exposure across ten global cities
Prashant Kumar,Sarkawt Hama,Thiago Assis Rodrigues Nogueira,Rana Alaa Abbass,Veronika S. Brand,Maria de Fátima Andrade,Araya Asfaw,Kosar Hikmat Hama Aziz,Shi-Jie Cao,Ahmed S. El-Gendy,Shariful Islam,Farah Jeba,Mukesh Khare,Simon Mamuya,Jenny Carolina Martínez,Ming-rui Meng,Lidia Morawska,Adamson S Muula,S.M. Shiva Nagendra,Aiwerasia Vera Ngowi,Khalid M. Omer,Yris Olaya,Philip Osano,Abdus Salam +23 more
TL;DR: It was concluded that car-users in the least affluent cities experienced disproportionately higher in-car PM2.5 exposures, indicating filter effectiveness in removing coarse particles and a need for filters that limit the ingress of fine particles.
Journal ArticleDOI
Low-cost PM2.5 sensors: An assessment of their suitability for various applications
Rohan Jayaratne,Xiaoting Liu,Kang Ho Ahn,Akwasi Bonsu Asumadu-Sakyi,Gavin Fisher,Jian Gao,Adrian Mabon,Mandana Mazaheri,Benjamin J. Mullins,Mawutorli Nyaku,Zoran Ristovski,Yvonne Scorgie,Phong K. Thai,Matthew Dunbabin,Lidia Morawska +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated six low-cost PM2.5 sensors (the Sharp GP2Y1010AU0F, Shinyei PPD42NS, Plantower PMS1003, Innociple PSM305, Nova SDS011 and Nova SDL607) in laboratory and field conditions using two combustion aerosols, concrete dust and ambient particles.
