TL;DR: The key phenotypic measures of the “Retrospective Criteria of Long-Term Treatment Response in Research Subjects with Bipolar Disorder” scale currently used in the Consortium on lithium Genetics (ConLiGen) study are reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cross-Disorder Analysis of Bipolar Risk Genes: Further Evidence of DGKH as a Risk Gene for Bipolar Disorder, but also Unipolar Depression and Adult ADHD
Heike Weber,Sarah Kittel-Schneider,Alexandra Gessner,Katharina Domschke,Maria Neuner,Christian Jacob,Henriette N. Buttenschøn,Andrea Boreatti-Hümmer,Julia Volkert,Sabine Herterich,Bernhard T. Baune,Silke Gross-Lesch,Juliane Kopf,Susanne Kreiker,Thuy Trang Nguyen,Lena Weissflog,Volker Arolt,Ole Mors,Jürgen Deckert,Klaus-Peter Lesch,Andreas Reif +20 more
TL;DR: An association of DGKH with BPD, UPD, and aADHD is demonstrated by applying a two-stage design and a DGKK haplotype consisting of rs994856/rs9525580/RS9525584 GAT was associated with all disorders tested, while the complementary AGC haplotype was protective.
Journal ArticleDOI
Progranulin gene variability and plasma levels in bipolar disorder and schizophrenia
Daniela Galimberti,Bernardo Dell'Osso,Chiara Fenoglio,Chiara Villa,Francesca Cortini,M Serpente,Sarah Kittel-Schneider,Johannes Weigl,Maria Neuner,Juliane Volkert,Christine Leonhard,David G. Olmes,Juliane Kopf,Claudia Cantoni,Elisa Ridolfi,Carlotta Palazzo,Laura Ghezzi,Nereo Bresolin,Alfredo Carlo Altamura,Elio Scarpini,Andreas Reif +20 more
TL;DR: GRN variability decreases the risk to develop BPD and schizophrenia, and progranulin plasma levels are significantly lower in BPD patients than in controls, Nevertheless, a larger replication analysis would be needed to confirm these preliminary results.
Journal ArticleDOI
DIRAS2 is Associated with Adult ADHD, Related Traits, and Co-Morbid Disorders
Andreas Reif,T. Trang Nguyen,Lena Weißflog,Christian Jacob,Marcel Romanos,Tobias J. Renner,Henriette N. Buttenschøn,Sarah Kittel-Schneider,Alexandra Gessner,Heike Weber,Maria Neuner,Silke Gross-Lesch,Karin Zamzow,Susanne Kreiker,Susanne Walitza,Jobst Meyer,Christine M. Mors,Helmut Schäfer,Josep Antoni Ramos-Quiroga,Bru Cormand,Jan Haavik,Jan Haavik,Barbara Franke,Barbara Franke,Klaus-Peter Lesch +47 more
TL;DR: Converging lines of evidence implicate genetic variance in the promoter region of DIRAS2 in the etiology of ADHD and co-morbid impulsive disorders.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lithium-induced Clock Gene Expression in Lymphoblastoid Cells of Bipolar Affective Patients.
Sarah Kittel-Schneider,S. Schreck,C. Ziegler,Lena Weißflog,M. Hilscher,R. Schwarz,L. Schnetzler,Maria Neuner,Andreas Reif +8 more
TL;DR: It is shown that chronic lithium treatment of LCLs leads to decreased expression of the clock gene DBP, rendering DBP a lithium-regulated gene, and the role of the circadian clock as well in lithium mode of action as in the pathomechanisms of BD is confirmed.
