Vigroux,Lian-Tao Wang,Robyn L. Ward,G. Wright,C. K. Xu,Michael Zemcov,Michael Zemcov +89 more
TL;DR: The reliability of infrared and ultraviolet (UV) emissions to measure star formation rates in galaxies is investigated for a large sample of galaxies observed with the SPIRE and PACS instruments on Herschel as part of the HerMES project as discussed by the authors.
Journal Article
The Mid-Infrared Color of NGC 6946
George Helou,Sangeeta Malhotra,Chas Beichman,Harriet L. Dinerstein,David J. Hollenbach,Deidre A. Hunter,K. Y. Lo,S. D. Lord,Nanyao Y. Lu,Robert H. Rubin,Gordon J. Stacey,Harley A. Thronson,Michael W. Werner +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the color ratio of the 7-to-15(micro)m emission of NGC 6946 was analyzed for the first time and it was shown that this mid-infrared color is remarkably constant between arms and inter-arm regions, and as a function of radius in the disk.
Journal ArticleDOI
The dust emission SED of X-ray emitting regions in Stephan's Quintet
Giovanni Natale,Richard J. Tuffs,C. K. Xu,Cristina Popescu,J. Fischera,Ute Lisenfeld,Nanyao Y. Lu,P. N. Appleton,Michael A. Dopita,Pierre-Alain Duc,Yu Gao,William T. Reach,Jack W. Sulentic,Min Yun +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed the Spitzer maps of Stephan's Quintet in order to investigate the nature of the dust emission associated with the X-ray emitting regions of the large scale intergalactic shock and of the group halo.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Survey of Small-Scale Extremes in Extinction at Low Galactic Latitudes Using IRAS Galaxies
TL;DR: In this article, the Tully-Fisher relation was used to study the Galactic extinction in the V an I bands over an angular scale of a few arcmin at absolute Galactic latitudes between 2 and 16 deg.
Journal ArticleDOI

Vigroux,Lian-Tao Wang,Robyn L. Ward,Gillian S. Wright,C. K. Xu,Michael Zemcov,Michael Zemcov +83 more
TL;DR: In this article, the Spectral and Photometric Imaging Receiver (SPIRE) on Herschel has been carrying out deep extragalactic surveys, one of whose aims is to establish spectral energy distributions (SEDs) of individual galaxies spanning the infrared/submillimeter (IR/SMM) wavelength region.
