Journal ArticleDOI

SARS-CoV-2 Omicron is an immune escape variant with an altered cell entry pathway

Brian J. Willett, +672 more
- 07 Jul 2022 -
TL;DR: In this article , the authors demonstrate substantial evasion of neutralization by Omicron BA.1 and BA.2 variants in vitro using sera from individuals vaccinated with ChAdOx1, BNT162b2 and mRNA-1273.529.
Journal ArticleDOI

The virome of Drosophila suzukii, an invasive pest of soft fruit.

TL;DR: A metatransciptomic approach is used to identify viruses infecting this fly in both its native (Japanese) and invasive ranges, and eighteen new RNA viruses are described, including members of the Picornavirales, Mononegavirale, Bunyavirals, Chuviruses, Nodaviridae, Tombusviridae, Reoviraceae, and Nidovirales.
Journal ArticleDOI

Isolation of a natural DNA virus of Drosophila melanogaster, and characterisation of host resistance and immune responses.

TL;DR: Kallithea virus is established as a new tractable model to study the natural interaction between D. melanogaster and DNA viruses, and it is hoped it will serve as a basis for future studies of immune responses to DNA viruses in insects.
