Journal ArticleDOI

SARS-CoV-2 Omicron is an immune escape variant with an altered cell entry pathway

Brian J. Willett, +672 more
- 07 Jul 2022 -
TL;DR: In this article , the authors demonstrate substantial evasion of neutralization by Omicron BA.1 and BA.2 variants in vitro using sera from individuals vaccinated with ChAdOx1, BNT162b2 and mRNA-1273.529.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antibody responses and correlates of protection in the general population after two doses of the ChAdOx1 or BNT162b2 vaccines

TL;DR: In this article , the authors investigated anti-spike IgG antibody responses and correlates of protection after second doses of ChAdOx1 or BNT162b2 vaccines for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
Journal ArticleDOI

Assessing the Viral Fitness of Oseltamivir-Resistant Influenza Viruses in Ferrets, Using a Competitive-Mixtures Model

TL;DR: A novel in vivo experimental method and accompanying mathematical analysis provide greater insight into the relative fitness, both within the host and between hosts, of two different influenza virus strains compared to more traditional methods that infect ferrets with only pure populations of viruses.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modelling the evolution and spread of HIV immune escape mutants.

TL;DR: A mathematical model of within-host evolution of escape mutants, transmission of these variants between hosts and subsequent reversion in new hosts is presented and used to explain why some escape mutants appear to have stable prevalence whilst others are spreading through the population.
