SN 2011hs: a fast and faint Type IIb supernova from a supergiant progenitor
F. Bufano,Giuliano Pignata,Melina C. Bersten,Paolo A. Mazzali,Paolo A. Mazzali,Stuart D. Ryder,Raffaella Margutti,Dan Milisavljevic,Lorenzo Morelli,Stefano Benetti,Enrico Cappellaro,Santiago González-Gaitán,C. Romero-Canizales,Maximilian Stritzinger,Emma S. Walker,Joseph P. Anderson,Carlos Contreras,Carlos Contreras,T. de Jaeger,F. Forster,Claudia P. Gutiérrez,Mario Hamuy,Eric Hsiao,Nidia Morrell,E. Paillas,S. Parker,Elena Pian,Elena Pian,T. E. Pickering,Nathan Edward Sanders,Chris Stockdale,Chris Stockdale,Massimo Turatto,S. Valenti,Robert A. Fesen,José Maza,Ken'ichi Nomoto,Mark M. Phillips,Alicia M. Soderberg +38 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the first year of the Type IIb supernova (SN) 2011hs was studied, and the authors found that SN 2011hs is consistent with the explosion of a 3-4'M' He-core progenitor star, corresponding to a main-sequence mass of 12-15'M⊙, with an energy of E = 8.5 × 1050 ERG.
Journal ArticleDOI
A post-mortem investigation of the Type IIb supernova 2001ig
TL;DR: In this paper, images taken with the Gemini Multi-Object Spectrograph on Gemini-South, in excellent (<0.5 arcsec) seeing, of supernova (SN) 2001ig in NGC 7424, ~1000 d after explosion.
Journal ArticleDOI

Putman,Elaine M. Sadler,Ian M. Stewart,Ian M. Stewart,F. Stootman,Rachel L. Webster,A. H. Wright +30 more
TL;DR: In this article, a gas cloud associated with the asymmetric spiral galaxy NGC 2442 was discovered from the H I Parkes All-Sky Survey (HIPASS) data.
Journal ArticleDOI

Wagstaff,Mark Walker,Randall B. Wayth,Peter K. G. Williams +38 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an ASKAP survey for Variables and Slow Transients (VAST) is presented, which is based on a multi-tiered survey strategy to characterise the radio transient sky through detection and monitoring of transient and variable sources.
Journal ArticleDOI
Resolving the Stellar Populations in the Circumnuclear Ring of NGC 7469
TL;DR: In this paper, the stellar populations in the star-forming ring of the luminous infrared galaxy NGC 7469 were investigated using HST multi-wavelength (UV through NIR) imaging complemented with new K-band ground-based long-slit spectroscopy, and mid-IR and radio maps from the literature.
