Journal ArticleDOI
IL-33, an interleukin-1-like cytokine that signals via the IL-1 receptor-related protein ST2 and induces T helper type 2-associated cytokines
Jochen Schmitz,Alexander Owyang,Elizabeth R. Oldham,Yaoli Song,Erin Murphy,Terril K. McClanahan,Gerard Zurawski,Mehrdad M. Moshrefi,Jinzhong Qin,Xiaoxia Li,Daniel M. Gorman,J. Fernando Bazan,Robert A. Kastelein +12 more
TL;DR: A member of theIL-1 family, IL-33, which mediates its biological effects via IL-1 receptor ST 2, activates NF-kappaB and MAP kinases, and drives production of T(H)2-associated cytokines from in vitro polarized T( H)2 cells is reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pyogenic Bacterial Infections in Humans with MyD88 Deficiency
Horst von Bernuth,Capucine Picard,Capucine Picard,Zhongbo Jin,Rungnapa Pankla,Rungnapa Pankla,Hui Xiao,Cheng-Lung Ku,Cheng-Lung Ku,Maya Chrabieh,Maya Chrabieh,Imen Ben Mustapha,Imen Ben Mustapha,Imen Ben Mustapha,Pegah Ghandil,Pegah Ghandil,Yildiz Camcioglu,Júlia Vasconcelos,Nicolas Sirvent,Margarida Guedes,Artur Bonito Vitor,María José Herrero-Mata,Juan I. Aróstegui,Carlos Rodrigo,Laia Alsina,Estibaliz Ruiz-Ortiz,Manel Juan,Claudia Fortuny,Jordi Yagüe,Jordi Anton,Mariona Pascal,Huey Hsuan Chang,Lucile Janniere,Lucile Janniere,Yoann Rose,Yoann Rose,Ben Zion Garty,Helen Chapel,Andrew C. Issekutz,László Maródi,Carlos Rodríguez-Gallego,Jacques Banchereau,Laurent Abel,Laurent Abel,Xiaoxia Li,Damien Chaussabel,Anne Puel,Anne Puel,Jean-Laurent Casanova,Jean-Laurent Casanova +49 more
TL;DR: Nine children with autosomal recessive MyD88 deficiency suffered from life-threatening, often recurrent pyogenic bacterial infections, including invasive pneumococcal disease, but these patients were otherwise healthy, with normal resistance to other microbes.
Journal ArticleDOI
SIGIRR, a negative regulator of Toll-like receptor-interleukin 1 receptor signaling.
David N Wald,Jinzhong Qin,Zhendong Zhao,Youcun Qian,Mayumi Naramura,Liping Tian,Jennifer E. Towne,John E. Sims,George Stark Stark,Xiaoxia Li +9 more
TL;DR: Inflammation is enhanced in SIGIRR-deficient mice, as shown by their enhanced chemokine induction after IL-1 injection and reduced threshold for lethal endotoxin challenge and biochemical analysis indicated that SIGirR binds to the TLR–IL-1R signaling components in a ligand-dependent way.
Journal ArticleDOI
CARD4/Nod1 mediates NF-κB and JNK activation by invasive Shigella flexneri
Stephen E. Girardin,Régis Tournebize,Maria Mavris,Anne Laure Page,Xiaoxia Li,George R. Stark,John Bertin,Peter S. DiStefano,Moshe Yaniv,Philippe J. Sansonetti,Dana J. Philpott +10 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that in addition to the extracellular LPS sensing system mediated by TLRs, mammalian cells also possess a cytoplasmic means of LPS detection via a molecule that is related to plant disease‐resistance proteins.
Journal ArticleDOI
The adaptor Act1 is required for interleukin 17–dependent signaling associated with autoimmune and inflammatory disease
Youcun Qian,Caini Liu,Justin Hartupee,Cengiz Z. Altuntas,Muhammet F. Gulen,Daniel Jane-wit,Jianhua Xiao,Yi Lu,Natalia Giltiay,Jinbo Liu,Tomasz Kordula,Qi-Wei Zhang,Bruce A. Vallance,Shadi Swaidani,Mark A. Aronica,Vincent K. Tuohy,Thomas A. Hamilton,Xiaoxia Li +17 more
TL;DR: The data show that Act1 is essential in IL-17-dependent signaling in autoimmune and inflammatory disease and was associated with much less inflammatory disease in vivo in both autoimmune encephalomyelitis and dextran sodium sulfate–induced colitis.
