15 Feb 2006TL;DR: In this paper, the author constructs a Customer Science application system "CS-CIANS" by utilizing New JIT for strategic product development, which contributes to the excellence profile design to "Lexus".
Abstract: A future successful global marketer must develop an excellent quality management system that impresses users and continuously provides excellent, quality products in a timely manner through corporate management. As providing what customers desire before they notice their wants will become a more essential part of any successful manufacturing business, the author constructs a Customer Science application system "CS-CIANS" by utilizing New JIT. For strategic product development, the author develops "TDS-DTM" as a core-element "TDS" of New JIT, which contributes to the excellence profile design to "Lexus".

TL;DR: In this paper, the spontaneous ignition phenomenon was observed in a rectangular tube and the results confirmed the presence of a flame at the wall of the tube when the shock wave pressure reaches 1.2-1.5 MPa in more than 9 MPa burst pressure.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors performed a numerical analysis to understand rotating detonation engine in terms of features of rotating detonations and its propagation limit, and the engine performance analysis showed that the maximum mixture based specific impulse (I spm ) was about 440 s, which is comparable with that of the present typical rocket engine.
Abstract: The rotating detonation engine (RDE) is a new engine system using detonation, which may provide a higher performance and smaller and simpler design in comparison with the pulse detonation engine (PDE) and other traditional engines. However the research on RDE stands just at the first step now. The authors perform a numerical analysis to understand about RDE in terms of features of rotating detonation and its propagation limit. The lower threshold pressure of detonation limit was 2.6 MPa and the upper threshold pressure of detonation limit was 7.1 MPa. The engine performance analysis shows that the maximum mixture based specific impulse (I spm ) was about 440 s, which is comparable with that of the present typical rocket engine.

TL;DR: Using the data on waste household electric appliances in Japan, the authors examined the effects of community characteristics on the frequency of illegal dumping in a community with a high unemployment rate and showed that an increase in the disposal cost and decrease in the law enforcement's ability to enforce the regulations lead to an increased increase in illegal dumping.
Abstract: Using the data on waste household electric appliances in Japan, this paper examines the effects of community characteristics on the frequency of illegal dumping The results reveal that the frequency of illegal dumping is higher in a community with a high unemployment rate An increase in the disposal cost and decrease in the law enforcement’s ability to enforce the regulations lead to an increase in illegal dumping The paper further evaluates the role of community participation in the prevention of illegal dumping It is shown that the surveillance and reporting systems in cooperation with the local residents have contributed to the reduction of illegal dumping

TL;DR: The distribution of 90SR fallout in tree rings suggests that 90Sr had given a rather direct effect and showed no significant translocation from sapwood to heartwood, whereas 137Cs tends to concentrate in heartwood irrespective of the effect of the fallout.
Abstract: The contents of 90Sr and 137Cs in two samples of Japanese cedar from Takao and Tsukui districts were determined in tree rings cut into segments representing steps of 5 years of growth. 90Sr in both cedar samples and 137Cs in the Tsukui cedar sample were determined after ashing and chemical isolation, while 137Cs in the Takao sample was directly determined from the sample ash. The distribution of 90Sr fallout in tree rings suggests that 90Sr had given a rather direct effect and showed no significant translocation from sapwood to heartwood, whereas 137Cs tends to concentrate in heartwood irrespective of the effect of the fallout. Average contents of 90Sr and 137Cs were 22 and 9.4 pCi/kg in the Takao sample (9.61 kg air dried) and were 23 and 12 in the Tsukui (4.71 kg air dried) in 1982.
