TL;DR: In this paper, single crystals of the copper(II) chain of formula [(μ-1,1,3-N3)2{Cu2(ampy)2(N 3 )2]n (ampy=1-(2-aminoethyl)pyrrolidine) were prepared and characterized by X-ray diffraction methods.

TL;DR: In this paper, it was argued that the polarity-depednent twisted intramolecular charge transfer (TICT) process is responsible for the remarkable fluorescence sensitivity of these biological fluorophores to the environment.

TL;DR: The magnetoresistance (MR) behavior and magnetocaloric effect of the ferromagnetic shape memory alloy of nominal composition Ni2Mn1.36Sn0.64 have been investigated in this article.
Abstract: The magnetoresistance (MR) behaviour and the magnetocaloric effect (MCE) of the ferromagnetic shape memory alloy of nominal composition Ni2Mn1.36Sn0.64 have been investigated. We observe giant negative MR (~ − 48% at 90 kOe) around the martensitic transition (MT) temperature. The observed MR was found to be irreversible with respect to the applied magnetic field, particularly in the vicinity of MT. The sample exhibits a large but positive magnetocaloric effect (a peak value of 5.1 J kg−1 K−1 for the magnetic field changing from 0 to 20 kOe) around MT. A comparison with the other Ni–Mn-based shape memory alloys indicates that the observed MR scales with the magnitude of the MCE.

TL;DR: The hydrogen-bonded water-chloride assembly, which is stabilized in a template of metal organic supramolecular host (MOSH) {[Cu4(phen)4(adi)(OH)2Cl2]2+}n(adi = adipate dianion; phen = 1,10phenanthroline), was isolated in this paper.
Abstract: The hydrogen-bonded water-chloride assembly {[(H2O)14Cl2]2-}n, which is stabilized in a template of metal organic supramolecular host (MOSH) {[Cu4(phen)4(adi)(OH)2Cl2]2+}n(adi = adipate dianion; phen = 1,10-phenanthroline), was isolated. DFT calculations corroborate the X-ray crystal structure of the hydrogen-bonded water-chloride assembly. The variable temperature magnetic study also corroborates the single-crystal structure.

TL;DR: In this article, an interface-selective heterodyne-detected electronic sum frequency generation (HD-ESFG) was applied to the pH spectrometry of an air/cationic surfactant/water interface in order to obtain insight into an acid−base equilibrium at the interface.
Abstract: We applied interface-selective heterodyne-detected electronic sum frequency generation (HD-ESFG) to the pH spectrometry of an air/cationic surfactant/water interface in order to obtain insight into an acid−base equilibrium at the interface. We used an indicator molecule adsorbed at the interface to probe local pH and local effective polarity. We obtained unprecedentedly high quality spectral data of the interfacial pH spectrometry, which clearly indicates that this interface has higher pH than the bulk owing to the positive charge of the head group of the surfactant. In addition, we found that the air/surfactant/water interface and the micelle interface of the same surfactant are essentially equivalent in local pH and local effective polarity.
