Abstract: This paper presents the results of the suspended coal fuel spraying with pneumo- mechanical sprayers followed by the fuel combustion in a vortex furnace, as con- tinuation of our previous research. It is shown that, during the spraying, two qualitatively different systems of drops are forming. The first one with the "drops" diameter above 80-100 μm is presented by coal particles, the other - by water-coal drops. Different dynamics of temperature variation of the coal parti- cle and water-coal fuel drops during their combustion is founded. The residence time of the burning particles and water-coal fuel drops in the vortex furnace is proportional to their diameter, which permits to provide their effective burn-off.

Abstract: We exploit a unique field experiment to recover the willingness to pay (WTP) for shorter waiting times at a cataract detection clinic in Mexico City, and compare the results with those obtained through a hypothetical dichotomous choice questionnaire. The WTP to avoid a minute of wait obtained from the field experiment ranges from 0.59 to 0.82 Mexican pesos (1 USD = 12.5 Mexican pesos at the time of the survey), while that from the hypothetical choice experiment ranges from 0.33 to 0.48 Mexican pesos. WTP to avoid the wait is lower for lower income individuals, and it is larger the more accurately the announced expected waiting time matches the true values. Finally, we find evidence that the marginal disutility of waiting is not constant.

Abstract: Load monitoring is essential in every energy consuming system. Traditional load monitoring system, which used to be intrusive in nature require the installation of sensor to every load of interest which makes the system to be costly and time consuming. Nonintrusive load monitoring (NILM) system uses the aggregated measurement at the utility service entry to identify and disaggregate the appliances connected in the building, which means only one set of sensors is required and it does not require entrance into the consumer premises. Having studied much and working in the area, this paper aim to provide a comprehensive review of the state of art of NILM, the different methods applied by researchers so far, before concluding with the future research direction, which include automatic home energy saving using NILM.

Abstract: The hypercomplex 2D analytic signal has been proposed by several authors with applications in color image processing. The analytic signal enables to extract local features from images. It has the fundamental property of splitting the identity, meaning that it separates qualitative and quantitative information of an image in form of the local phase and the local amplitude. The extension of analytic signal of linear canonical transform domain from 1D to 2D, covering also intrinsic 2D structures, has been proposed. We use this improved concept on envelope detector. The quaternion Fourier transform plays a vital role in the representation of multidimensional signals. The quaternion linear canonical transform (QLCT) is a well-known generalization of the quaternion Fourier transform. Some valuable properties of the two-sided QLCT are studied. Different approaches to the 2D quaternion Hilbert transforms are proposed that allow the calculation of the associated analytic signals, which can suppress the negative frequency components in the QLCT domains. As an application, examples of envelope detection demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach.

Abstract: This paper begins with an overview of the Indian insurance market in Section II, which highlights the phenomenal growth experienced recently, in line with the country's improving economic fundamentals. Section III benchmarks the Indian insurance market against other regional counterparts. By comparing growth, penetration, density and other insurance variables, it can be shown that, whilst India is still an underdeveloped insurance market, it has a huge catch-up potential. Section IV presents a necessary overview of the historical development of the sector, but the relevance to the current marketplace is not lost, as the original 1938 Insurance Act still forms the backbone of present insurance regulation. A more detailed dissection of current regulatory issues is offered in Section V. Sections VI and VII discuss issues in the life and non-life insurance sectors respectively. Developments with far-reaching implications, like the proliferation of bancassurance as an alternative distribution channel and the move to allow non-life insurance companies greater freedom in pricing their products, are looked at in detail. Finally, Section VIII summarises the potential and pitfalls of rural insurance in India. Even though there is strong potential for expansion of insurance into rural areas, growth has so far remained slow. Considering that the bulk of the Indian population still resides in rural areas, it is imperative that the insurance industry's development should not miss this vast sector of the population.
