TL;DR: In this article, a method of passivating the surface of a gallium arsenide substrate by cleaning the substrate in an etching solution and depositing a sulfide film on the substrate is described.
Abstract: A method of passivating the surface of a gallium arsenide substrate by cleaning the gallium arsenide substrate in an etching solution and depositing a sulfide film on the substrate. The step of depositing the sulfide film is preferably performed by spin-on of a sodium sulfide solution, followed by drying or annealing. The resulting passivated surface exhibits superior surface recombination velocity characteristics compared to prior art passivation techniques, thereby making possible superior solid state device operating characteristics.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method and system for automatically consolidating service scripts for downloading to Analog Display Services Interface compatible screen telephones is presented, which comprises specifying a general template for a set of service features, specifying line specific attributes for a feature, and then combining the two into a service module.
Abstract: A method and system for automatically consolidating service scripts for downloading to Analog Display Services Interface compatible screen telephones The method and system comprises specifying a general template for a set of service features, specifying line specific attributes for a feature, and then combining the two into a service module Both the template and service modules are specified in terms script instructions grouped in blocks defined as call states, event handlers, soft keys, or macros A customer's service is composed of multiple service modules which, when selected, would be consolidated by a network server computer into a singular service script The method of consolidation requires first creating software objects from the blocks in the template Then the blocks from the service modules are incorporated into each object created by the template or if an object can't be found, a new object is created Finally, the process of incoporation includes the insertion of the instructions from the modules into the appropriate objects according to a rank order of the intructions as determined by a ranking process in the software The consolidated service script is then compiled for downloading and transmitted to a local processor in the compatible screen telephone

TL;DR: In this article, a teleconferencing system (100, 100') provides a wide aspect ratio view at each site utilizing a single NTSC camera (250, 350) and projector (260,360).
Abstract: A teleconferencing system (100, 100') provides a wide aspect ratio view at each site utilizing a single NTSC camera (250, 350) and projector (260,360). At the transmitting end of a teleconference, a transformation element (280, 380, 510, 610) maps a wide aspect ratio field of view into the field of view of an NTSC camera. The transformation is reversed at the receiving end of the teleconferencing system.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a combined time-signal path diversity technique that trade-off bandwidth for autonomy of communications and simplified signal processing, thereby improving reliability, for encoding and decoding signals.
Abstract: Methodology, and associated circuitry, for encoding and decoding signals utilize combined time-signal path diversity techniques that trade-off bandwidth for autonomy of communications and simplified signal processing, thereby improving reliability. Transmitter (800) processes an incoming data stream by partitioning the stream into contiguous blocks. Each block is encoded into a data frame for transmission over one or more paths comprising the medium interconnecting the transmitter and receiver. Frame encoding is effected by generating an array of pulses distributed in time as well as distributed across the paths. Receiver (100) is generally arranged as a correlation detector in that the receiver only responds to the particular time-signal path pattern for which it is configured. Sensors in energy transfer relation to the one or more paths are positioned at detection points on the paths in correspondence to the time-space pattern of the receiver. The outputs of the sensors are processed to produce a correlation signal at the given frame rate whenever the coded signal corresponding to the receiver configuration is propagating along the paths.

Abstract: We have measured the photoinduced absorption and photoconductivity which arises from long-lived photocarriers in unoriented films of polyacetylene prepared by the Durham synthetic route. The spectrally resolved photoinduced absorption shows induced absorption at 0.55 eV and photo- bleaching at 2.0 eV associated with charged photoexcitations, and induced absorption at 1.5 eV associated with a neutral photoexcitation. Above 200 K the mobility of the charge carriers exhibits an activated temperature dependence (${E}_{a}$=0.31 eV), and at 290 K we obtain a mobility value of 5\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}${10}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}5}$ ${\mathrm{cm}}^{2}$/V s. These results are interpreted in terms of an interchain-hopping mechanism for bipolaron-like charged-soliton pairs.
