TL;DR: A family of distance measures based on Hamming, Euclidean and Hausdorff metrics are presented and a group decision making method has been presented for ranking the alternatives.
Abstract: Type-2 fuzzy set (T2FS) is a generalization of the ordinary fuzzy set in which the membership value for each member of the set is itself a fuzzy set. However, it is difficult, in some situations, for the decision-makers to give their preferences towards the object in terms of single or exact number. For handling this, a concept of type-2 intuitionistic fuzzy set (T2IFS) has been proposed and hence under this environment, a family of distance measures based on Hamming, Euclidean and Hausdorff metrics are presented. Some of its desirable properties have also been investigated in details. Finally, based on these measures, a group decision making method has been presented for ranking the alternatives. The proposed measures has been illustrated with a numerical example.

TL;DR: A new peer-to-peer (P2P) cooperative caching scheme is proposed that has reduced the congestion and query delay by 30% with an increase in the hit ratio by 20%.
Abstract: Vehicular communications are becoming an emerging technology for safety control, traffic control, urban monitoring, pollution control, and many other road safety and traffic efficiency applications. All these applications generate a lot of data which should be distributed among communication parties such as vehicles and users in an efficient manner. On the other hand, the generated data cause a significant load on a network infrastructure, which aims at providing uninterrupted services to the communication parties in an urban scenario. To make a balance of load on the network for such situations in the urban scenario, frequently accessed contents should be cached at specified locations either in the vehicles or at some other sites on the infrastructure providing connectivity to the vehicles. However, due to the high mobility and sparse distribution of the vehicles on the road, sometimes, it is not feasible to place the contents on the existing infrastructure, and useful information generated from the vehicles may not be sent to its final destination. To address this issue, in this paper, we propose a new peer-to-peer (P2P) cooperative caching scheme. To minimize the load on the infrastructure, traffic information among vehicles is shared in a P2P manner using a Markov chain model with three states. The replacement of existing data to accommodate newly arrived data is achieved in a probabilistic manner. The probability is calculated using the time to stay in a waiting state and the frequency of access of a particular data item in a given time interval. The performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated in comparison to those of existing schemes with respect to the metrics such as network congestion, query delay, and hit ratio. Analysis results show that the proposed scheme has reduced the congestion and query delay by 30% with an increase in the hit ratio by 20%.

01 Oct 2017TL;DR: A fog computing based patient monitoring system for ambient assisted living (FAAL) is proposed, where data traces of the movement of the patients are collected using sensor nodes using body area networks (BANs) and are passed using the fog gateways.
Abstract: From the last few years, Wireless body area networks (WBANs) have attracted a lot of attention from both academia and industry due to an increase in real-time data capturing and processing for patient monitoring. This has become possible due to the technological advancements in which high computing and communication facilities are available for most of the modern handheld devices. In this environment, computing resources are available close to the proximity of the end users using the most popular technology called as Fog computing (devices used in the fog computing are called as fog devices). Most of the solutions reported in the literature for this purpose have used the traditional cloud-based infrastructure in which there may occur a long delay for getting the response even for data which is not of very huge amount which may cause a performance degradation for most of the implemented solutions (such as for treatment of neurological diseases where a real-time monitoring is required) in this environment. Hence, to cope up these issues, in this paper, we proposed a fog computing based patient monitoring system for ambient assisted living (FAAL). Data traces of the movement of the patients (for neurological diseases) are collected using sensor nodes using body area networks (BANs) and are passed using the fog gateways. To reduce the load on the communication infrastructure, an efficient clustering algorithm for data transmission is also presented in the paper. Performance of the proposed solution has been evaluated using the parameters such as-latency, and data overloading. Results obtained clearly show the superior performance of the proposed scheme as compared to the non-fog computing based environment.

TL;DR: In this article, a pseudo-first-order kinetic model was applied to evaluate the kinetic parameters for the transesterification of waste cotton seed oil with methanol, and a first-order rate constant (k) and activation energy (Ea) were found to be 0.10 min−1 and 43 kJ mol−1, respectively.
Abstract: Zinc-doped (0.25–7 wt %) calcium oxide (Zn/CaO) has been prepared in nanocrystalline form by a simple wet chemical method followed by calcination up to 950 °C. The structural analysis has been investigated by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), whereas the surface morphology and average particle size of Zn/CaO were determined by scanning electron and transmission electron microscopic studies, respectively. The catalytic activity of the prepared Zn/CaO toward the transesterification of cotton seed oil with methanol was found to be a function of its calcination temperature, crystallite size, and basic strength. A pseudo-first-order kinetic model was applied to evaluate the kinetic parameters for the transesterification of waste cotton seed oil with methanol, and a first-order rate constant (k) and activation energy (Ea) were found to be 0.10 min–1 and 43 kJ mol–1, respectively. The catalyst, Zn/CaO, was amenable to recovery and recycling for at least five consecutive reaction cycles. The Koros–Nowak criterion t...

TL;DR: This work considers the multiattribute group decision making (MAGDM) method and embellish it with numerical examples, to rank the alternatives and to confer its more manageable and adaptable nature.
Abstract: As a generalization of the interval‐valued intuitionistic fuzzy sets, a consciousness of interval‐valued q ‐rung orthopair fuzzy sets (IV q ‐ROFSs) is a robust and trustworthy tool to fulfill the imprecise information with an adaptation of the manageable parameter q≥1 . However, the ranking of any interval‐valued numbers is very valuable for interval‐valued decision‐making problems. Possibility degree measure is a worthy tool to manage the degree of possibility of one object over the other. Driven by these requisite characteristics, it is fascinating to manifest the possibility degree of comparison between two IV q ‐ROFSs, and an innovative method is then encouraged to rank the given numbers. Few properties are checked to explain their features and exhibited the advantages of it over the existing possibility measures with some counterintuitive examples. Later on, we consider the multiattribute group decision making (MAGDM) method and embellish it with numerical examples, to rank the alternatives. Several numerical examples are implemented to test the superiority of the stated MAGDM method and to confer its more manageable and adaptable nature.
