TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the superiority of fast gradient methods over the classical ones is no longer absolute when an inexact oracle is used, and it is proved that, contrary to simple gradient schemes, fast gradient methods must necessarily suffer from error accumulation.
Abstract: We introduce the notion of inexact first-order oracle and analyze the behavior of several first-order methods of smooth convex optimization used with such an oracle. This notion of inexact oracle naturally appears in the context of smoothing techniques, Moreau---Yosida regularization, Augmented Lagrangians and many other situations. We derive complexity estimates for primal, dual and fast gradient methods, and study in particular their dependence on the accuracy of the oracle and the desired accuracy of the objective function. We observe that the superiority of fast gradient methods over the classical ones is no longer absolute when an inexact oracle is used. We prove that, contrary to simple gradient schemes, fast gradient methods must necessarily suffer from error accumulation. Finally, we show that the notion of inexact oracle allows the application of first-order methods of smooth convex optimization to solve non-smooth or weakly smooth convex problems.

TL;DR: In this paper, a new mixed finite element has been used to calculate flows of Maxwell-B and Oldroyd-B fluids at very high values of the Deborah number, De.
Abstract: A new mixed finite element has allowed us to calculate flows of Maxwell-B and Oldroyd-B fluids at very high values of the Deborah number, De . The element is divided into several bilinear sub-elements for the stresses, while streamline-upwinding is used for discretizing the constitutive equation. The method is applied to the stick-slip problem, the flow through a tapered contraction and the flow through four-to-one abrupt plane and circular contractions. Important corner vortices develop at high values of De in the circular contraction. We have not encountered upper limits for the Deborah number in our calculations with Oldroyd-B fluids.

TL;DR: The Einstein Telescope (ET) as mentioned in this paper is a proposed European ground-based gravitational-wave detector of third-generation, which is an evolution of second-generation detectors such as Advanced LIGO, Advanced Virgo, and KAGRA.
Abstract: The Einstein Telescope (ET), a proposed European ground-based gravitational-wave detector of third-generation, is an evolution of second-generation detectors such as Advanced LIGO, Advanced Virgo, and KAGRA which could be operating in the mid 2030s. ET will explore the universe with gravitational waves up to cosmological distances. We discuss its main scientific objectives and its potential for discoveries in astrophysics, cosmology and fundamental physics.

TL;DR: In this article, an integrative framework of corporate social responsibility (CSR) design and implementation is presented, which highlights four stages that span nine steps of the CSR design process.
Abstract: This article introduces an integrative framework of corporate social responsibility (CSR) design and implementation. A review of CSR literature in particular with regard to design and implementation models provides the background to develop a multiple case study. The resulting integrative framework, based on this multiple case study and Lewins change model, highlights four stages that span nine steps of the CSR design and implementation process. Finally, the study identifies critical success factors for the CSR process.
