TL;DR: SPI as discussed by the authors is a high spectral resolution gamma-ray telescope on board the ESA mission INTEGRAL (International Gamma Ray Astrophysics Laboratory), which consists of an array of 19 closely packed germanium detectors surrounded by an active anticoincidence shield of BGO.
Abstract: SPI is a high spectral resolution gamma-ray telescope on board the ESA mission INTEGRAL (International Gamma Ray Astrophysics Laboratory). It consists of an array of 19 closely packed germanium detectors surrounded by an active anticoincidence shield of BGO. The imaging capabilities of the instrument are obtained with a tungsten coded aperture mask located 1.7 m from the Ge array. The fully coded field-of-view is 16degrees, the partially coded field of view amounts to 31degrees, and the angular resolution is 2.5degrees. The energy range extends from 20 keV to 8 MeV with a typical energy resolution of 2.5 keV at 1.3 MeV. Here we present the general concept of the instrument followed by a brief description of each of the main subsystems. INTEGRAL was successfully launched in October 2002 and SPI is functioning extremely well.

TL;DR: Six genes of the MAGE family including MAGE-1 were found to be expressed at a high level in a number of tumors of various histological types and none was expressed in a large panel of healthy tissues, with the exception of testis and placenta.
Abstract: We reported previously that human gene MAGE-1 directs the expression of a tumor antigen recognized on a melanoma by autologous cytolytic T lymphocytes. Probing cosmid libraries with a MAGE-1 sequence, we identified 11 closely related genes. The analysis of hamster-human somatic cell hybrids indicated that the 12 MAGE genes are located in the q terminal region of chromosome X. Like MAGE-1, the 11 additional MAGE genes have their entire coding sequence located in the last exon, which shows 64%-85% identity with that of MAGE-1. The coding sequences of the MAGE genes predict the same main structural features for all MAGE proteins. In contrast, the promoters and first exons of the 12 MAGE genes show considerable variability, suggesting that the existence of this gene family enables the same function to be expressed under different transcriptional controls. The expression of each MAGE gene was evaluated by reverse transcription and polymerase chain reaction amplification. Six genes of the MAGE family including MAGE-1 were found to be expressed at a high level in a number of tumors of various histological types. None was expressed in a large panel of healthy tissues, with the exception of testis and placenta.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the effect of collision centrality on the transverse momentum of PbPb collisions at the LHC with a data sample of 6.7 inverse microbarns.
Abstract: Jet production in PbPb collisions at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of 2.76 TeV was studied with the CMS detector at the LHC, using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6.7 inverse microbarns. Jets are reconstructed using the energy deposited in the CMS calorimeters and studied as a function of collision centrality. With increasing collision centrality, a striking imbalance in dijet transverse momentum is observed, consistent with jet quenching. The observed effect extends from the lower cut-off used in this study (jet transverse momentum = 120 GeV/c) up to the statistical limit of the available data sample (jet transverse momentum approximately 210 GeV/c). Correlations of charged particle tracks with jets indicate that the momentum imbalance is accompanied by a softening of the fragmentation pattern of the second most energetic, away-side jet. The dijet momentum balance is recovered when integrating low transverse momentum particles distributed over a wide angular range relative to the direction of the away-side jet.

TL;DR: The objective of the present article is to present the consensus guidelines for the delineation of the node levels in the node-negative neck, and representative CTVs that are consistent with these guidelines are illustrated on CT sections.

TL;DR: As discussed here, marker-assisted selection and quantitative trait loci cloning for RSA are underway, exploiting genomic resources, candidate genes and the knowledge gained from Arabidopsis, rice and other crops to manipulate root system architecture towards a distribution of roots in the soil that optimizes water and nutrient uptake.
