Ototoxicity of drugs used in the treatment of covid-19

TL;DR: Drug ototoxicity is well known as a cause of cochlear hearing loss, and so the use of new pharmacotherapy methods and drug combinations in the fight against the new coronavirus may have harmful effects.

Molecular characterization of SARS-CoV-2 from Bangladesh: Implications in genetic diversity, possible origin of the virus, and functional significance of the mutations

TL;DR: The analysis revealed 5 large deletion events in ORF7a and ORF8 gene products that may be associated with less severity of the disease and increased viral clearance and multiple missense mutations in B-cell and T-cell predicted epitope regions and/ or PCR target regions that may impact immunogenicity and/or RT-PCR based diagnosis.

Mortalidade de profissionais de enfermagem pelo Covid-19 no Brasil no primeiro semestre de 2020

TL;DR: Por meio da presente pesquisa foi identificado aumento na frequencia of registros de obito de PE no recorte geografico e historico analisados.

Competitive Endogenous RNA Network Activates Host Immune Response in SARS-CoV-2-, panH1N1 (A/California/07/2009)-, and H7N9 (A/Shanghai/1/2013)-Infected Cells

TL;DR: Comparison of transcriptome profiling of SARS-CoV-2, panH1N1, and H7N9 infected cells showed that the commonly upregulated genes among the three groups were mainly involved in Autophagy, pertussis, and tuberculosis, which indicated that autophagy plays an important role in viral pathogenicity.

Effects of home quarantine for COVID-19 community control in Shenzhen, China, 2020

TL;DR: The community control strategies for home-quarantined individuals with epidemic histories, but without symptoms to take the NAT in the first two incubations is effective to control COVID-19.

MAFFT Multiple Sequence Alignment Software Version 7: Improvements in Performance and Usability

TL;DR: This version of MAFFT has several new features, including options for adding unaligned sequences into an existing alignment, adjustment of direction in nucleotide alignment, constrained alignment and parallel processing, which were implemented after the previous major update.
Journal ArticleDOI

A simple, fast, and accurate algorithm to estimate large phylogenies by maximum likelihood.

TL;DR: This work has used extensive and realistic computer simulations to show that the topological accuracy of this new method is at least as high as that of the existing maximum-likelihood programs and much higher than the performance of distance-based and parsimony approaches.
Journal ArticleDOI

From “A”IV to “Z”IKV: Attacks from Emerging and Re-emerging Pathogens

TL;DR: 100 years after the infamous “Spanish flu” pandemic, the 2017–2018 flu season has been severe, with numerous infections worldwide.
