Mechanism of precipitation and phase composition of CaO–SiO2–P2O5 systems synthesized by sol–gel method

TL;DR: In this paper, aqueous precipitation method was used to synthesize hydrated calcium silicate phosphate systems with different chemical composition, which was controlled by the change in pH value of the final suspension during the precipitation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of Synthesis Conditions on the Formation of Si-Substituted Alpha Tricalcium Phosphates.

TL;DR: The study showed that the method of synthesis affects the morphology of the obtained particles, the homogeneity of crystalline phase and the efficiency of Si substitution, as well as the silicon content of the samples obtained by the solid-state method is almost equal to the nominal values.
Journal ArticleDOI

Physico-Chemical Characterization and In Vitro Biological Evaluation of Pure SiHA for Bone Tissue Engineering Application

TL;DR: These tests attempt to provide a comprehensive picture of the cellular response to the SiHA material, in order to determine the mechanism by which Si evokes the improved in vitro biological outcomes described in the literature.

Silicon: A Possible Factor in Bone Calcification

TL;DR: Silicon, a relatively unknown trace element in nutritional research, has been uniquely localized in active calcification sites in young bone and is suggested to be associated with calcium in an early stage of calcification.

Hydrogen Bonding in Solids

G R Wilkinson
- 01 Oct 1968 -
TL;DR: The subject of hydrogen bonding plays a significant role in determining the structure of crystals and hence the subject is of much interest to physicists, chemists and molecular biologists as discussed by the authors, and as there is now considerable agreement in recognizing hydrogen bonding experimentally, it is also timely.
