Conservation biological control and enemy diversity on a landscape scale

TLDR
In this article, the authors proposed a landscape management perspective for conservation biological control in agroecosystems, where most arthropod species experience their habitat at spatial scales beyond the plot level, and there is spillover of natural enemies across the crop-noncrop interface.

Landscape moderation of biodiversity patterns and processes - eight hypotheses

TL;DR: This review uses knowledge gained from human‐modified landscapes to suggest eight hypotheses, which it hopes will encourage more systematic research on the role of landscape composition and configuration in determining the structure of ecological communities, ecosystem functioning and services.

Global food security, biodiversity conservation and the future of agricultural intensification

TL;DR: In this article, the authors argue that the true value of functional biodiversity on the farm is often inadequately acknowledged or understood, while conventional intensification tends to disrupt beneficial functions of biodiversity.

Ecological intensification: harnessing ecosystem services for food security

TL;DR: Research efforts and investments are particularly needed to reduce existing yield gaps by integrating context-appropriate bundles of ecosystem services into crop production systems.

Functional landscape heterogeneity and animal biodiversity in agricultural landscapes

TL;DR: In this article, a framework for considering compositional heterogeneity (the number and proportions of different cover types) and configurational heterogeneity, the spatial arrangement of cover types, is proposed.

Sources, Sinks, and Population Regulation

TL;DR: If the surplus population of the source is large and the per capita deficit in the sink is small, only a small fraction of the total population will occur in areas where local reproduction is sufficient to compensate for local mortality, and the realized niche may be larger than the fundamental niche.

Landscape perspectives on agricultural intensification and biodiversity – ecosystem service management

TL;DR: In this article, the negative and positive effects of agricultural land use for the conservation of biodiversity, and its relation to ecosystem services, need a landscape perspective, which is difficult to be found in the literature.

Some Demographic and Genetic Consequences of Environmental Heterogeneity for Biological Control

TL;DR: Effectiveness of any control program will depend on the different responses of the crop, pest, and control organism to this pattern of environment, which there are geographic, local, and temporal variations in the environment.

Habitat Management to Conserve Natural Enemies of Arthropod Pests in Agriculture

TL;DR: The rapidly expanding literature on habitat management is reviewed with attention to practices for favoring predators and parasitoids, implementation of habitat management, and the contributions of modeling and ecological theory to this developing area of conservation biological control.
