An X-Ray Minisurvey of Nearby Edge-on Starburst Galaxies. I. The Data

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed all available ROSAT PSPC and HRI and ASCA data for a small far-infrared flux-limited sample of seven nearby edge-on starburst galaxies in order to search for hot gas in their halos.

Determination of peak positions and areas from wide‐scan XPS spectra

TL;DR: In this paper, it was found that by taking transforms of both Gaussian and Lorentzian line shapes into polynomial representations, it is possible in many instances to determine peak position, peak intensity and the full width at half-maximum (FWHM) from wide-scan XPS spectra that have a low number of data points per electron-volt.

Derivatization of organic compounds prior to gas chromatographic–combustion–isotope ratio mass spectrometric analysis: identification of isotope fractionation processes

Gareth Rieley
- 01 Jan 1994 -
TL;DR: In this paper, an examination of the practice of derivatizing organic compounds such as fatty acids, sterols and amino acids in relation to subsequent analysis via gas chromatography-combustion-isotope ratio mass spectrometry is presented.

Amino acid nitrogen isotopic fractionation patterns as indicators of heterotrophy in plankton, particulate, and dissolved organic matter

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used compound-specific δ15N patterns of amino acids to examine source and processing history in non-living marine organic matter in the central Pacific Ocean, and found that the differences between individual amino acids (AA) strongly suggest that the sharply divergent δ 15N enrichment for different AA with trophic transfer, as first reported by [McClelland, JW. and Montoya, J.P.

Lateral mobility in membranes as detected by fluorescence recovery after photobleaching

TL;DR: Results are shown to indicate that the recovery of fluorescence F(tau) can be represented over a large range of percent bleach, and recovery time tau by the relatively simple expression F( tau) = [ F(o) + F(infinity) (tau/tau 1/2)]/[1 + tau/ tau 1-2].
